Let's all support George Allen...Talk him up as the Next Best THING since sliced WHITE BREAD...The idiot just HAS TO RUN!!! Even our weakest Dem could make mincemeat of this idiot flying turkey.

1. George Allen is a TOOL
After his sorry attempt at governor, he gets elected to the Senate from Virginia. I don't understand how anyone could vote for him after hearing him talk. The man is probably dumber than the chimperor. Perfect republican, in other words.

8. Two words: Chuck Robb
Robb only narrowly defeated OLIVER NORTH in his previous re-election in 1994, and was tainted by charges of having an affiar, and allegedly listened to illegally-recorded cell phone conversations of Doug Wilder, as well as cocaine allegations. Robb actually wasn't that bad, ideologically. Even though he was a founding member of the DLC, he di support Clinton's call for allowing gays in the military, and voted AGAINST the DOMA in 1996, while even Paul Wellstone voted for it. The only bad vote, at least according to Wikipedia, was that he voted in favor of Clarence Thomas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Robb

This is only my view...but Tweety has him on ALOT! and everytime...he seems to "bait him" playing up to Allen's idiocy.

But...considering that I think Tweety is the dimmest bulb and an Idiot Himself for sniffing Bushies "Codpiece" on the Aircraft Carrier and his "Bullhorn Moment" at WTC, at every opportunity...I might just be a teeny bit biased against Matthews. Matthews thinks he's "oh so clever" at playing "both sides against the middle" like his cohorts Isikoff and Feinman from Newsweek which is part and parcel of MSNBC/NBC Corporate...but at some point Tweety's drinking and his soul in turmoil are going to cause an IMPLOSION...it might be long after we are stuck with another Repug P-Resident because of lazy ignorant American viewers...but it will come.

Maybe when George Allen is another Dufus P-Resident and the PNAC/NEOCONS have installed another one....I don't know...but it's sickening...:puke:

I missed the Allen segment. I tuned in last night just long enough to hear Matthews chortle how he "thinks it's funny" (funny ha ha) that the Democrats have come out with a National Security Plan. His 'teaser' going into it was something like, "five years after 9/11, two years after the defeat of Kerry in 2004, and eight months before an election, the Democrats FINALLY have a plan!"

Pissed me off to no end! Turned to Wolfie...which wasn't much better.

Allen is probably THEIR strongest candidate! He's ALWAYS talking aobut God and his faith, and how he wants to bring values back to the US!

I'm not quite sure yet who would be the easiest Pub candidat to run against. I'm still leaning to McCain. He had a LOT of support in 2000, and I think HE also could have won, and probably bigger than Shrub! But the RNC decided it "wasn't his turn!"

Because he's cozied up to Shrub sooo much in the last year or so, he's lost all the support of independants, moderate Dems, and some moderate Pugs.

I'm thinking he's aligned himself so close to Shrub, he's killed his own possibility to win a National election!

Let's hope they RUN HIM..figuring how dumb their electorate is at this point. The smart Repugs are already "running for the hills" and yet they push this ASS.

I think it's the Repugs best bet to confuse their Right Wing Rundies who've supported them forever and turn it over to their TRUE HOPE which is Mitt Romney...which they think their "Corporatists/Globalists" will salivate over when he's contrasted with McCain and Allen.

Their heart really wants McCain because he's fusing himself with Falwell and acting just like a TRUE BUSHIE...but McCain is ROUGH whereas Romney is Snakelike Smooth.

Maybe THE Repugs are going for "McCain/Romney" ticket. It would be PERFECT WOULDN'T IT....Get Allen out of the way early but give the Fundies McCain who has moved so far right he's going to announce soon that Women need to wear "Appropriate Clothing" and "Abstain from Sex Before Marriage." McCain is backtraking so fast that our heads could spin...but he's a TOUGH GUY...TORTURED IN VIETNAM...AND ALLOWED THE CHIMP TO GUT HIS "supposed" ANTI-Torture BILL. Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 12:29 AM by The_Casual_Observer
of 1969 knows this one. This is probably the most memorable and ultimately humorous one.

Allen was the quarterback of the football team. On the night before a game against a predominately black high school Morningside High (They were the Monarchs), Allen, who was sort of ahead of Charles Manson on this, attempted to stir up some kind of half ass race riot by "decorating" a number of the walls around PV High with ridiculous spray painted graffiti with racial themes such as "Fuck Rich Whitey" and so on. These were large, numerous, and needless to say, even for Allen, stupid.

This turned out not to be the perfect crime however, since Allen somehow misspelled "Monarchs" on a particularly prominent "tag" near the front of the main office area. The spelling goof, along with his generally well known disdain of blacks solved the "who done it" immediately. Faced with the evidence he confessed and was forced to make a public apology that afternoon over the school PA. Allen lost the game. He was a shitty QB. They didn't make it to CIF.

In 1969 young Southern Californians were really not disposed to hating blacks. So Allen's rather outspoken and weird behavior was notorious around there.

I don't think that Webb could come out and directly run an ad featuring this (he'll be accused of swiftboating Allen, even though Allen is a low-life scum) but having the story out there in the press could work against him in both his Senate race and in 2008. At least with Bush he doesn't have a story showcasing his stupidity as blatantly as Allen (coke and AWOL may be detrimental but the MSM hasn't done a good job reporting those incidents.)

37. I'll pipe in here. I have
Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 09:57 AM by LibDemAlways
been in touch with a Virginia-based reporter and a reporter for Salon.com. I have told them what I remember.

The problem is that the graffiti was quickly covered over. There were no pictures taken of it, or, if there were, they didn't make the school newspaper. There was no publicity in local newspapers at the time. Allen's father was a prominent man in the community, and the school was not about to embarrass him.

So, unless more classmates come forward willing to talk about this, Allen can just deny the facts of it. The reporter from Virginia told me Allen has been asked about it and he laughed it off as a "boyhood prank." Both reporters have yearbook photos of Allen and names of other classmates. Whether those people will go on the record about this is guesswork for now.

The Salon.com guy asked me specifically if I had talked with the Washington Post. He said someone there was tracking down a "rumor" that Allen had participated in this.

Of course there's the elephant in the room, also. Even if every person who was there came forward, would the corporate whores run with the story? I doubt it.

What he did was stupid, and judging by how he acts today it's reflective of his personality. Howrver, a lot of people have done things in high school and college that can hurt them later on in politics. I don't think that I'll ever run for elective office for that reason.

43. I agree with you that it happened a long
time ago. However, it wasn't just some harmless prank like TPing an opposing team's school or something like that. It was a deliberate attempt to stir up the racial pot and provoke black kids into a fight. And, it was vandalism. Today it would probably be termed a hate crime.

This is the same guy who kept a noose in his law office before he went into politics. There's a pattern here.

33. The Casual Observer and I both went to HS with
Allen. I was in his 1970 graduating class, and can attest that everything TCO has written about the ass is true.

As for his hair, it was always dark. He wore it in sort of a short Prince Valiant style - if that makes sense.

He was dumb, and even back then he was a liar. Asked to list his accomplishments for the yearbook, Allen wrote that he had served in student government for four years. A total bald-face lie. He was actually in the car club and falconry club (along with future spy Daulton Lee of The Falcon and The Snowman true-life espionage story).

He was best known for the Confederate flag stickers on his car (probably the only teenager in So. Cal. to consider himself a "rebel.") And he did indeed vandalize the school with racist graffiti. A real piece of work.

Ronald Reagan's election changed the dynamic of the Cold War from one of containment and co-existence to the advancement of freedom. 51. holy sweet nectar of liberty, batman!
Today, because of Ronald Reagan, there are literally hundreds of millions of people who were once locked behind the Iron Curtain living in countries we now know as free countries--Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, former East Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and added countries such as Ukraine and Georgia, which are now tasting that sweet nectar of liberty as opposed to being behind the Iron Curtain.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/R?r109:FLD001:S50721 (2/6/2006, Reagan's "95th Birthday")

Today, thanks to Ronald Reagan, as I saw Ambassadors on the House floor from Lithuania, from Romania, throughout Central Europe--those were hundreds of millions of people who were behind the Iron Curtain. But, thanks to Ronald Reagan's perseverance, for his belief in the dignity of all human beings, that all people do yearn to be free, to exercise their God-given rights, those people who were behind that Iron Curtain, who were enemies, are now tasting that sweet nectar of liberty. They are our friends.

http://www.washingtonwatchdog.org/environmental_justice/documents/cr/05/fe/03/cr03fe05-25.html (2/3/2005, Reagan's "94th")

Allen didn't coin the phrase, natch:

And what was he doing now in her absence? Was he in torment, too; shaken by gusts of uncontrollable longing for her; fighting off nightmare imaginings of disasters that might be befalling her? Or was he happy, drinking down in great thirsty drafts the nectar of liberty which her incursion into his life had deprived him of? She didn't know which of these alternatives was the more intolerable to her.
