2. Bush wants cover for an attack on Iran
He'll just push past them no matter what they decide. He needs to be impeached to reign him in . . . even then, Congress still has to stand up to him.

4. Yes, Bush wants a cover
and needs to be stood up too.
However, this resolution does absolutely nothing.

5. Of course it does nothing

It was designed to. Even if it was crafted to do something it would be meaningless to the Bush regime. The point in marking this event was just that, to mark an event in the process. Its interesting that it doesn't mention sanctions, and it has the strangest language about the absense of evidence that Iran isn't doing something improper with the uranium. Guilty until they prove themselves innocent, I suppose.

So this is the UN security council reaction after months of prodding by the Bush regime for some strong statement or resolution. The only thing they could manage is this toothless, non-binding letter that draws it out for another month. That's where it stood yesterday. That's all.

7. This is good news
We'll have to see what comes of it - but The UN is the best hope for coming through this current conflict without war, in my opinion.
