1. When your life is based on fear and hate,
that closes the door on joy.

That's just the way it is.

3. Why is it they
seem not to care for no one but themselves. With all the wasteful spending in our Government they want to hurt the most unfortunate. I just don't get it. Do I care if a few of dollars go to help someone feed their family. Do I care if a few of my dollars keep someone warm at night. Do I care if a few of my dollars go to help the sick. Is the difference between us I have a soul.

4. Read "Don't Think of an Elephant"
Republicans' domestic and political culture has a "disciplined father"
model under which the strong daddy must protect the family from the dangerous
world, economic selfishness to strengthen the family unit is justified, and
children must be protected from bad influences and their own undisciplined
impulses until they are proven to be competent to be disciplined fathers
themselves. Bad habits must be punished, and thus people who fail must be
punished for their failures. Social services would only be rewarding failure.

Liberals' domestic and political culture is built on a "nurturing family" model
in which people are basically good and the purposes of society and of work are
to help people become even better.

It's only 144 pages. You can read it in a couple of hours. It also has a
lot of interesting discussion in linguistic terms of "framing" of issues, and
an analysis of Republican expertise in this. For instance, by calling it "tax relief"
the Republicans made opposing "tax cuts for the rich" sound almost loony.

5. I think there are many reasons ....
...but fear...ingrained fear of not getting their piece of the pie, or of having someone taking it away...is at their core. The constant quest for 'security' enables them to disregard those troubling displays occuring in their periphery, keeping their foot to the pedal and holding on to the life they value by the dollar increment. There must also be something gained in aligning oneself with power...enabling one to feel 'better-than' by proxy.....to further distort their own self image.

8. We're more laid back.
Also, we don't go apeshit when we hear the word 'sex'.
