Apparently financed with opium money, those nasty Taliban have struck again.

Yeah, I know that the media's attention is tuned more toward Iraq, especially now that American hostage Jill Carroll has been freed there.

In fact, America's attention has been turned away from the Taliban or what is being called as "enemies of Afghanistan". For a little over two years, Pakistan, supposed 'friend' to the US, has allowed refuge to the Taliban and they are gaining in strength, enough so that they can attack coalition forces about every two days.

In case everyone has forgot, Taliban controlled Afghanistan hosted the bases that really did attack this country. I say that because Americans seem to have short attention spans and memories these days.

1. What is this Taliban, of which you speak?
Weren't they the ones who met with Governor Bush in Texas discussing oil deals?

3. Yeah those are the same Taliban that our Great President.....
thought was a rock band as written about in Mark Crispin Miller's book The Bush Dyslecticon. I know I spelled that wrong! Spell check isn't enlightened enough to correct it nor is Funk & Wagnalls. There is a quote in Crispin-Miller's book where Bush claims that he thinks the Taliban are a rock band. Anyway, the entire picture, (and I invite your opinion too), is of an incompetent President that assumes the best will happen through his incompetent friends he appoints to key positions for the best corporatists interests!

2. it's never been about the 'war on terror'
Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 10:52 PM by winston61
This has been about oil, Israel, US hegemony and keeping the euro as far away from oil as possible. In fact the way the neocons see it, another terror attack would be good for business. If they wanted to get bin Laden they could squeeze Pakistan till he popped out. But you can't scare people with the boogey man if you capture him. The dictator of Pakistan is scared shitless of the Taliban and if Usama was caught, Mushariff would be good as dead.
