3. just read about some extremely negative predictions from psychics....
.....a nukeular WWIII ~ Israel and US against Iran around August or September.

Psychics see global nuclear war in August-September 2006

We had a big Alumni re-union recently and I got to compare notes with some old friends I ain't seen for years. Three of them are what you can call "psychic" (one professionally) and the funny thing is they all said the same thing - global nuclear war in the "hot months" of 2006. Two said definitely August, the other September.

They are all making emergency preps ahead of those months and I'm kind of inclined to do the same.

Any other psychics out there having similar visions?

7. A lot of psychic friends say the "shit is going to hit the fan".
And I think they are probably right in some way...But at the same time, I think they've been saying that forever...the "new age" always requires some great apocolypse to preceed it, in myths from the bible to today.

15. Jeff Gannon will get his own show on Fox.
....oh, and global thermonuclear war. A teenage computer geek hacks into Norad's mainframe and unwittingly activates the ICBM launch sequence. Fortunately though, after then programming the super-computer to play a game of Tic Tac Toe - for which there can be no winner - Armageddon is averted. Oh wait, that's the plot for the 80's suspense thriller "War Games" starring Matthew Broderick.

Nevermind!!:+

Happy New Year instead!!! :toast:

16. I am increasingly skeptical of the chances of taking back Congress:
Contrast the Republicans' pre-1994 thematic unity (Contract on America etc.) with the total disarray of the Democratic Party today: not only an abysmal lack of common theme, but disunities within disunities -- the Democratic Leadership Council and its Fifth Column efforts on behalf the corporate/fascist agenda; the associated neutralization and purge of progressives; the bitter and venomous hostility of the anti-gun fanatics toward those of us who own firearms; male indifference to women's legitimate fears over curtailment of reproductive rights (which for a woman is ultimately nothing less than denial of the right to be); other schisms based on racism and/or sexism; the snide refusal of bourgeois Democrats to acknowledge the reality of class struggle (a huge ideological divide that includes not only the issues of welfare, health care and public transport but is also an infuriating insult to every one of us who is poor or near-poor -- i.e., among the 40 percent of all Americans who are increasingly victims of capitalism); the escalating hostility between progressive advocates of public-school reform and defenders of the (ever-deteriorating) educational status quo -- I could go on and on but I'm sure you see the point.

Hoping desperately I am wrong, I therefore predict we will NOT take Congress back in 2006 -- not for want of public support, but rather from chronic inability to articulate a theme for the public to mobilize around -- this failure of leadership combined with the persistence of ideological fanaticism and the resultant survival of the "I'm blue-collar so both parties hate me but at least the Republicans will let me keep my guns" meme.

However if there's nuclear war as predicted by the psychics, the question will most likely be moot: anti-war protests will probably exceed the intensities of the late 1960s, in which case Bush will likely suspend the elections, and the Republican Congress will declare him "President for the Duration" if not for life.
