If one more asshole on NPR says "we're in a war on terror..."

...I am PERSONALLY going down to WDET in Detroit to spit in his face.

WHAT IN THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING? CONGRESS declares WAR against NATIONS. And this bullshit in Iraq is not a war on ANYTHING except, at this point, the people of Iraq.

Get it fucking RIGHT people. WE ARE NOT IN A WAR ON TERROR. PERIOD.

Memorize it. Etch it into your brain. And use it every chance you get.

And I'm sure you know that. That way, the Constitution can continue to be used as toilet paper ad infinitum. Just like the war in Orwell's 1984.

But NPR's talking heads (or any other true journalistic reporters) should never buy into that complete and utter bullshit. It is going to be a long 3 years.

And diverts our resources for genuinely effective efforts to combat the things that influence people to commit terrorist acts.

Schimpanski and his coterie of toads knew from 9/11 onwards (The Day Their Noses Were Rubbed In It) that the "war" approach would give them nearly limitless executive power to wreck the liberal underpinnings of American democracy that they so despise. Realism -- that terrorism isn't a place you can attack -- wouldn't have handed them the constitutional get-out-of-jail-free card they were looking for.

Reasonable people know that a combination of beefed-up international police cooperation, plus societal efforts to mitigate the forces that make people kill-crazy, plus the occasional application of military-style force in a surgical fashion, are much more likely to have the desired effect.

But all the reasonable people have gone home, and left the goons in charge of our government.

I have a headache.

I gave up on national propaganda radio three years ago, just walked away clean, same thing with cable news and I don't miss it a bit.
