3. Well, they both wanted a One Party State...
the main difference though is that Saddam was a secular leader.

8. No, we aren't sending our children to invade other countries.

How many volunteers do our military enlist that are 13, 14 years old. Hmmm

Yes, we do have 18 years old in the military, but they aren't children. They can vote.

Saddam conscripted {that would be the opposite of volunteer} young teenagers to be cannon fodder for the war with Iraq

But you already know that, don't you???

9. Nope, didn't know that... whereas we just starve 'em until there is
no other place to go to find work or a "potential" future.

Am I trying to escape my own problems?
If you're thinking about joining the armed forces to get out of a bad personal or family situation, don't rush to enlist. Don't make this important decision when you are upset, confused, unsure about your future, or pressured by your family.

Many people discover that their problems get worse, not better, in the military. Others find after enlisting that their situation at home improves, or they don't want to be in the military after all.

Don't enlist unless you're sure. If you change your mind after you join, it's very hard to get out.

10. Personally, I think the enlistment age should be raised to 21
or get a parental waiver to join. OTOH. Boot camp typically weeds out the ones who are too immature to handle the military.

11. Immature or not, educated or not, if these morans in charge allow
the infinite outsourcing of what used to keep young Americans alive, their only choice in many many instances is the military with promises of careers, education, excitement, and other items best left unsaid.

12. The Bush administration is a combination of America's enemies.
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 09:28 AM by mwb970
They've drawn from the worst of the worst.

- Opposition to the Constitution from the Tories & British.
- Racism from the Confederacy.
- Invasion of non-threatening countries from Hitler.
- Merging of corporations and the state from Mussolini.
- Suppression of dissent from the Soviet Union.
- Illegal wiretapping from Nixon.
- Torture from al Qaeda.

What's next? We're running out of enemies.

(edit: added Nixon!)

14. Depends On Who They Were
If they were Republican Guards - no. If they were regular Iraqi army, they were screwed.

15. Our national guard was screwed without armor as well... not to
mention the unarmored humvees, not to mention the poor planning, no plan for after the "war/massacre" etc, etc.
