Crane Accident Near Ingleside Claims A Life

INGLESIDE-KRIS 6 News has new information about the crane accident on Tuesday. A crane operator died in the accident at Gulf Coast Marine Fabricators, a 360-acre facility just east of Ingleside on FM 140 that specializes in large offshore oil platforms.

Officials told 6 News 50-year-old Adrian Flores, from Gregory, died at Spohn Memorial on Tuesday evening.



Workers at the facility were hoisting a twenty-ton pipe when it broke free and came crashing down on top of the cab Flores was operating, pinning Flores inside for about four hours.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has stepped in to investigate the accident. OSHA said it has up to six months to conduct its open investigation into the accident.

At this time, they are interviewing witnesses and employees to determine a cause. So far, Gulf Marine Fabricators has failed to return our phone calls.
