COLUMBUS John McCain is trying to put distance between his race for the White House and the current occupier of it.
"Next January, the political leadership of the United States will change significantly," he told about 300 people at the Columbus Convention Center today.
Later, McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, alluded to President George W. Bush again.

"We cannot again leave our problems for another unluckier generation of Americans to fix after they have become even harder to solve," he said.
Never referring to the president by name, McCain said he would "not subvert the purpose of legislation I have signed by making statements that indicate I will enforce only the parts of it I like." Bush regularly produces secret signing statements about legislation.
And McCain said he would "set a new standard for transparency and accountability," including weekly press conferences and regular meetings with joint sessions of Congress to answer questions and address criticism. The Bush administration has been criticized frequently as the most secret in history.
