Economic Report: Real Hourly Wages And Earnings Keep Falling

Real hourly wages and weekly earnings continue to fall. According to the Economic Policy Institute, although job losses slowed in April, the picture of real wages has failed to improve. Real average weekly wages are down 1 percent since the same time last year. And real wages have been losing ground consistently over the past six years, even as worker productivity continues to rise. Wages are still trying to catch up with a consumer price spike in September of 2005.

that's what is needed to drive up wages...and it never happens (at least, not for the hourly peons).
Productivity, and sales...and most businesses just WILL NOT GET IT through their thick corporate skulls that their workers are also POTENTIAL CONSUMERS, if not of their own employers' business, of local businesses, and THAT'S how a rising tide lifts all boats (except the boats with holes, and that tide drowns the people who don't have boats to begin with...)
