NJ iron worker plunges to his death

JERSEY CITY (WABC) -- An iron worker fell to his death while working on a NJ Transit bridge in Jersey City overnight.

Authorities say 34-year-old Casey Moran of Bayonne plunged off a railroad bridge over the Hackensack River just after 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The iron worker fell 30 feet from a lift bridge tower to the tracks below. He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center in cardiac arrest and pronounced dead.

Moran, a contractor for NJ Transit, was with five other workers at the time of his fall. The workers were repairing the stairway of the bridge tower. The tracks on the bridge were out of service at the time of the mishap.

1. Where were the safety belts? All to many workers hate to wear them

but it is too dangerous not to.

2. You have to move from place to place, it's not possible to wear them all the time.
