Sen. Sherrod Brown criticizes GM for plan to move jobs to China

As General Motors ponders bankruptcy, one United States Senator is warning the company not to use federal money to close plants and move jobs to China. Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown took the automaker to task this week.

: "I was in a state of disbelief last night when I learned that General motors is not going to create those jobs in the United states…not in big auto states….what GM wants to do is take our tax dollars and create jobs in China."

Brown said GM’s plan is to develop a new car that will be built in China and than sold in the United States.

: The audacities of such a plan can not me emphasized enough…

1. Saw that on GM News Conference... 400% increase of imports from China...
They are going to use tax payer money to increase imports of Chinese cars to America.... just splendid.

Not one reporter followed up on it or even blinked an eye... change we can believe in....

2. It should be mandatory
That any company, banks, auto makers, or financial groups, can NOT use money they got from the taxpayers to move jobs overseas! That should have been front and center when they asked for money. We need those jobs here, and the money from the taxpayers should stay in this country for workers who are citizens, or legal residents of this country! We need more voices like Browns in congress to put a stop to such insanity!

3. Our new Chevy Equinox was assembled in Canada

55% made in North America. China was 15% including the engine. Japan made the transmission.

Chrysler is sending jobs to Mexico at the expense of 4 American plants.

4. Continue firing (laying off ) American Workers and there will be no
one to buy the cars shipped here from China.

Keep in Mind: China plays hardball with trade policy. Long
Long ago, they made it clear that if American Companies wish
to sell in China they must build their products there.

Unfair trade policies have and are contributing to the Demise
of America.
