Weekly Top Ten: Solis Launches Wage-Theft Campaign | SEIU vs. NUHW | Remembering Cesar Chavez

Newsletter 2 April 10

All this at http://www.inthesetimes.com/working

Under George W. Bush, the Department of Labor's resources were sharply curtailed, and its Wage and Hour Division seemed to protect employers more than workers. With the help of 250 new field investigators for the division, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis is reversing that trend. On Thursday, at the site of Jane Addam's Hull House settlement, "the new sheriff in town" unveiled a new national initiative that aims to combat America's wage-theft epidemic.

Also this week: Kari Lydersen on a new face of the labor movement, Carl Finamore reports from the SEIU vs. NUHW trial in San Francisco, and R.M. Arrieta remembers Cesar Chavez's life and legacy on what would have been his 83rd birthday.
