Talks broke off with the Huron-Perth Children's Aid Society on Oct. 4.

Children's Aid workers in Huron and Perth counties fear they will be on the picket line by the end of the month after contract talks broke down.
Children and families in need risk being left with reduced care, as about 90 members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) could be off the job if the stalemate drags on, Laurel LeBeau, the president of CUPE Local 1427, said yesterday.
"The mood at the table is not positive," said LeBeau, adding the workers have given the union a strong strike mandate.
"We will strike, but we do not want that. We want to reach a settlement."
The society has as many as 245 children in its care and works with as many as 375 families.
The biggest issue is staffing, with more frontline workers being called in after-hours to deal with night and weekend emergencies after working full shifts.
