Union Review breaks stats records!

http://unionreview.com/union-review-breaks-stats-records%21

Why is a simple report about Union Review's record-breaking stats union news? Because it shows that when given the right forum, working people will show that they care about trade unionism in the United States and abroad.

Earlier in the week, at another blog, I wrote about my Union Review Experience -- and not long after that story was posted I sat back and realized the experience is going to change in another day or so, and then a week later, a month after that, etc. In other words, the Union Review experience, at least for me, has been nothing shy of an evolutionary process of building an online community of concerned working people.

Stats:
In the first 18 days of October the site has bypassed all of the stats associated with September, which blew August out of the water. As of 10/18/07 at 2:45 PM the site has had a total of 4,066 unique visitors ... that's just in the last 18 1/2 days, and that's simply awesome. To put this in perspective, in the entire month of Setember 2007, the site had a total of 4,028 unique and friendly visitors!

The hits to the site, which is important to look at but not quite as important as the amount of unique visitors, is also growing exponentially ... we are boasting an average between 15,000 and 20,000 hits a day; that's a lot for a little ol' blog like this one.

Why is this happening?

I think that this early sign of success for this site is due to the amount of hard work and effort put in by everyone involved here and at the MYSPACE counterpart. We are sending out bulletins, endless emails, posting news we find, talking about it and getting others involved. A group of us also go to many other blogs and post what is on our minds and bring folks over to Union Review for another perspective.

This is also happening because it is needed! A little more than a couple years back, when this site was on a different platform, I found the tremendous void in labor--related media and communications. I bitched and moaned for a long time and then worked to do something about it ... this is not to blow smoke up my own butt, as much as it feels good to be right about something for a change. To date, about 750 people agree with me ... that is the number of people with user names and passwords at Union Review combined with the active friends at the MYSPACE counterpart!

The Prometheus Labor Communications connection also is largely responsible for this kind of wide-spread readership. This is the company of unionized programmers and designers that helped build this site. Their technology is such that it is malleable enough to fit the needs of any labor organization online, including a blog like this one. The owner of the group, Steve Dondley, donated about $2,000 worth of labor to work with me on this -- and his company donates the hosting. I have paid less than $1,000 out of my pocket to make the technology sing along; and we have only just scratched the surface. So, any report on what we are doing and how we are doing has to include the foundation, which is the technology provided by PLC.

To this end, thank you for helping build this site up, working and caring with me about this stuff... none of this could happen without us all working toward one goal ... & we are getting there! Cool
