This is not really aimed at the DU crowd. It's a response to
the boring Libertarian, "government is evil"
bullshit.

Hate our government? Look in the mirror to find the closest
person to blame. Or are you just an innocent, helpless victim?

"...government of the people, by the people, and for the
people"

Do you know who said that? A very popular Republican, that's
who.

What has become of this nations is our fault. The quality of
people that occupy our government are the products of our
decisions and have been placed in power by us. And what's
worse is some of us want to give them even MORE power over us!

What will you do about it? Give up or get involved. If you
give up, then f*ck you. Any coward can stand on the sidelines
and bitch. We have already surrendered our privacy, and the
freedom to dissent is threatened by the so called
"Patriot Act". Republicans are so afraid of the
terrorists they can't surrender their rights fast enough.
Americans can be disappeared and tortured in secret. That's
not progress. That's NOT patriotic.

Will we fight to regain our rights, to question authority and
to maintain checks and balances in our government?

Or will we give up in disgust and hand over what's left of our
rights?

I'm not giving up.

1. George Carlin
I really love George Carlin and he has shared a lot of wisdom about politics in this country but I have to disagree with him on electing NOT to vote. Here's a video that contains the audio portion of his rant about American politics and the election process:

It's linked on my YouTube pages as a video response too.

Thanks again,

2. Well said . . . up to a point.

Frank, or should I call you, Mr. Factor?,

You do a great job identifying, and laying out, the problem.

WE, THE PEOPLE, have fucked things up. Allowing ourselves to be scared (9/11), tortured (Gitmo), distracted (Brittany Spears), and bribed ("economic stimulus" checks) into sitting by quietly while George W. Bush, and his corporate cronies, loot the treasury, and send our boys and girls off to fight and die to protect their $120/barrel oil.

Now . . . what I'd like to hear are your thoughts on what WE, THE PEOPLE, can do to "UN-FUCK" things, before it is too late.

Krash

3. I want to have this man's love-child!
The uncomfortable truth we don't want to hear about ourselves.

5. Hehe. Sorry for the hyperbole, but this has been one of those issues which I've been...
trying to communicate to fellow graduate students, to fellow Democrats online, and to my husband for about two years. It's refreshing to hear someone else stating these ideas.

7. Thanks and Good Points
I did think about the fact that no specifics were offered as to how to improve the situation. But... it is implied, I think, that if we become better citizens we uplift the gene pool so to speak.

Writer, what's your subject, History, English? I may need to pick your brain.

I have a real aversion to this Libertarian panacea bullsh*t that's become so popular with Ron Paul fans.
