Keith Olbermann runs through the ever-more-distant goalposts the Clinton campaign has set for Hillary to win the nomination since the campaign began.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann

How sexist, using Senator Clinton's own words and the words of her own campaign staff to demonstrate how frequently they've dismissed voters in just about every state during this process!

DAMN BIASED FACTS!!!

Facts and honesty are facts and honesty.
Sexism is sexism.
Olbermann may present both. His audience can't tell the difference.

That's what fascism is all about. Turn the hate knobs up against woman, gays, artists, intellectuals, foreigners, immigrants, minorities etc.

Feeling sucked in by the zeitgeist these days?

After all, there have been millions of women who have voted for Obama, and what a bunch of friggin' women haters those Obama supporting women are! I guess that women can't look at two candidates and make their decision based on who they think might make the best president. They're just bein' held DOWN and OPPRESSED by The Man.

On top of that, all those white people who voted for Hillary? They MUST be racist because they didn't vote for Obama.

Unfortunately, Iowa doesn't count because we are a caucus, a small state, next to Illinois, have educated activists that are liberal, we voted Republican in 2004, and we care about both foreign policy and domestic issues.

She and her supporters will continue to redefine victory for her campaign until the convention; there's no doubt about that. Now, who else do we know who likes to redefine what "victory" is...?

22. this was excruciatingly blunt...
sometimes I wish the hardcore backers of HRC would take the blinders off. Yes, there's issues with Obama (I was an Edwards supporter, and still am so to speak), but I cannot stomach her and her status quo Washington mentality and the connections her and her husband have made while in office and since he left, and those dealings really stink it up so bad that there are over a dozen states where Barack battles against McCain within 5 points win/lose, but where she loses to McCain in hypothetical match-ups by double digits.

It works because he (and Jon Stewart) simply point out the obvious. They don't have to "interpret" the news: It's funny enough as it is because what's real news seems like it ought to be fake and what's fake news is actually real.

but, If the red states select a Democratic nominee that they won't vote for come November . And that nominee selected by red state Democrats does not get out the Democratic base in the likely, blue state coalition; then that is also a valid concern.

36. You know, everyone is so wigged out around here about a possible loss
but barring massive election fraud, the likes of which have never yet been seen, it still holds that if we were ti put up a cucumber against McCain, come November, that cucumber would be President. If Hillary is our nominee, she will win and if Barack is our nominee, he will win. Nobody wants the Republican. It will be a landslide. It won't look like a landslide because of the expected fraud on the part of the Repigs, but it will be a landslide no matter which Democrat we put out there.

Edited to add: We're far more femophobic than we are racist at this point, anyway.

44. The point is to turn the red states blue
Which we are accomplishing. See the thread on 3.5 million new registrants so far in this election.

All the blue states voted for Kerry last time around, so that wasn't exactly a winning strategy, either. Any winning coalition will have to include both blue and purple states. Any Democrat can win the blue ones.

And don't forget the purple states, like NC. Most people only work to get out the vote in their own states, anyway. It's much more effective to focus on the folks you know--people resent folks coming from out of state to take part in their elections, but they respond better to their neighbors.

Edited on Tue May-06-08 11:47 AM by rosebud57
Need I remind HRC supporters OH & FL did not go D strong enough to prevent theft in 2000 & 2004.

Southern red states are perilously close to going blue if an African American tops the ballot. Pair Obama with a red state man's man like Jim Webb or Wes Clark and Obama's lead with men over HRC becomes formidable.

37. their doing that is one reason I'm for Obama
I have a number of reasons for supporting Obama, but one of them is the constant spin, and bs on this whole valid invalid state thing. This kind of voter doesn't really count, that kind of voter doesn't really count, it doesn't count if they voted in this state, it doesn't count if they voted in that state, we can't count people who voted early, or late, or wearing jeans, or wearing socks...Gah whatever.

The Clinton campaign's apparent lack of respect for the actual rules of the game in this regard are the worst kind of bullshit imho.

It's like they're playing Monopoly and they're saying that rents are only valid from the left side of the board (the orange and maroon ones) because the rents from Broadway and Park place are elitist, the green rents are latte leftists, the yellow rents are activists, the red rents are never going to be collected in the next game anyway, the railroads while not owned by anyone, should be treated as owned by her, and the bottom of the board don't count because they're too small to really matter.

If you were playing monopoly with someone who actually tried to claim that only their properties were important, and the railroad cash should go to them even if they didn't own them, how long would you keep thinking this person was sane?

45. That's masterful....
and seriously...I know there are certain HRC supporters (McCamy Taylor specifically) who will say he is just hating and a sexist, but i didn't hear hate. I heard a LOT of facts about how narrowly defined a 'real vote" has to be for it to be "fair" to Ms. Clinton. Too bad for her that we still at least have a modicum of voting rights for all (well except the million plus mostly black voters in Indiana).

Thanks for posting. Olberman is as truthful today as he was during all those times he called Bush-Co on the carpet for there transgressions.

Hillary supporters turned on Keith and all truth-telling media and called them Obama supporters because *GASP* they actually report the truth, and doesn't buy into Hillary's panderific bullshit that she spews directly from the GOP/RW playbook.

Truth has a well known liberal bias and it's clear Hillary and her campaign cronies are not liberals.

69. K&R- for K.O.
Shifting goalposts are useless to a winning TEAM. We'd rather go for 2 point conversion anyways.

72. Edward R. Murrow must be spinning in his grave
to think that this hack had the gall to compare himself to such a great newsman.

Olberman has become nothing more than an adjunct to the Obama campaign and, as such, has completely discredited himself as a journalist.

74. Actually KO never compares himself to ERM.
When asked he says point blank that he could only hope to be a fraction as good... and the sign off line is a tribute. Period.

82. Um... No... No he hasn't
his tag line at the end and the special comments are the only thing even close to being "modeled on ERM." And last time I checked modeling your self (even if you are correct about that) after someone you consider a master of the art - is NOT the same thing as thinking you are as good as them. Especially if when asked, you stat flatly that you aren't close to there talent.

Go back to hating him because he dares say what Hillary said and showing what Hillary and her campaign have done. KO isn't the reason Hillary is losing. Sexism isn't the reason Hillary is losing. Elitism isn't the reason Hillary is losing. HILLARY is the reason Hillary is losing. And as of tonight her "big win in PA" has been wiped out. Now she has to win 80% of the vote in the remaining contests to get close to his delegate or popular vote totals. Have a nice night.

83. I never said I hated him
what the fuck is it with you people?

You get in a jam and you all throw out the same talking points .

Change the subject to an attack on Hillary Clinton.

You're all nothing but broken records.

You don't know how to debate and you don't argue honestly.

85. I 'm sorry ...

But your premise was false from the beginning. I tried to give you facts to counter, but you didn't engage at all. Given that circumstance it is not worth debating, so I matched your fact challenged attack on KO with one on you. I should know not to go down to the level of the person I am disagreeing with.

75. Actually journalists are required to be honest
Sorry if facts don't favor Clinton's arguments or your wishes. I guess we're supposed to believe that all the SD's are sexist pigs now too because 95% of them have been going Obama since super tuesday?

80. blah blah blah
I never called Olberman a sexist.

learn how to fucking argue.

It's a matter of opinion if the "facts" favor one candidate over another. It's even a matter of opinion as to what are facts and what is spin. Olberman has shown his opinions to be biased - journalists aren't supposed to show bias.

Olberman isn't a journalist anymore, if he ever was.
