"In 1973, commercials in the United States and Canada for the game Hūsker Dū? flashed the message "Get it".<6> During the same year, Wilson Bryan Key's book Subliminal Seduction claimed that subliminal techniques were widely used in advertising.<4> Public concern was sufficient to cause the FCC to hold hearings in 1974. The hearings resulted in an FCC policy statement stating that subliminal advertising was "contrary to the public interest" and "intended to be deceptive"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subliminal_message

"On January 23, 1974, the FCC adopted a Public Notice which it sent to all its broadcast licensees and which stated, in part:

"We believe that use of subliminal perception is inconsistent with the obligations of a licensee, and therefore we take this occasion to make clear that broadcasts employing such techniques are contrary to the public interest. Whether effective or not, such broadcasts clearly are intended to be deceptive.

19. Sure it is...in a Free Country. But Imperial Amerika is nothing of the sort.
Edited on Sun May-11-08 03:28 PM by tom_paine
It is the Friends of Hitler, errr, Bush, who are doing that, thus it is "legal" for them to continue doing so.

Anyone not friends of Amerikan Hitler, well, let's just say the rules were made for us and not our superiors, as the Bushies see themselves.

Imperial Amerika is a lawless joke of an enslaved nation with worthless currency, a media straight out of Communist China (with hot blonde anchors and celebrity news, a tip of the hat to the Free Market), and a political system which Saddam would only be slightly uncomfortable with.

And he'd only be uncomfortable with the pretending that he wasn't absolute dictator, as Amerikan Hitler likely is, also. Saddam's government and Bushler government bear striking resemblences to each other, once it is understood that the kind of extreme violence Saddam practiced is simply not necessary in Amerika, and Saddam could exercise almost total control without it, as Bushler has done.

Saddam would just have to be a little more circumspect when he jkills peope, opting for fake suicides and "mysterious plane crashes", like Bushler has done.

My point being that, sure by the letter of the law what FIXED NEWS is doing is illegal. But Imperial Amerika has no laws, and ceratinly none which would apply to Friends of Der Bushler.

Therefore, I presume the FOX Subliminal Campaign, which is almost certainly going on all over the country emanating out of FOX's every orifice, will continue unmolested, right up until the October Surprise followed by the Stolen Election this November.

5. Aw, it use to be that we had to worry about subliminal boobies in ice cubes
and the sneaky occasional penis on Glade air freshener cans. Who knew, the face of McCain is the new subliminal penis?

6. Subliminal messages on Fox, not on the news.
Still, supposedly banned by the FCC. I hope the next administration will
prosecute, because the current one obviously has nothing against it.

7. Since subliminal messages aren't allowed in ads...
and since Fox is just a Republican infomercial, I'd hope there'd be some sort of disciplinary action taken by the FCC.

Oh wait, that's right, the FCC is controlled by the Republicans.

18. Okay, it's interesting, but:
The studies on subliminal messages came back with mixed results. Such messages have a limited effect on behavior.

By the way, are the religious fright types still complaining about "backward masked" satanic message in Heavy Metal? For those too young to remember, some people were maintaining that, if you played certain Heavy Metal records backwards, you could hear satanic messages. I always enjoyed Sinbad's take on that: If you're sitting around in your basement, listening to music played backwards, for hours on end: you ARE Satan!"
