GOP Consultant On CNN: Sometimes It's "Accurate" To Call A Woman A "Bitch"
By Greg Sargent - May 20, 2008, 8:04PM

Hmmm. This isn't very nice.

On CNN a few moments ago, analyst Jeffery Toobin argued that Hillary was right when she said in an interview that coverage of the race has been "sexist," buttressing his case by pointing to a recent newspaper column suggesting that Hillary is a "white bitch." Toobin, unsurprisingly, took issue with this, saying that it was "appalling" that this was considered acceptable.

GOP consultant Alex Castellanos, someone who presumably was on CNN's panel because he'd been invited by the network's producers, disagreed. Check out what he had to say about it...

"Some women, by the way, are named that, and it's accurate," Castellanos said. He went on to buttress his case by pointing out that Hillary is "abrasive, aggressive, irritating."

What's amusing about this is that Castellanos actually argued that it's sometimes accurate to call a woman a "bitch" as a way of making the claim that Hillary was wrong to argue that there's sexism in our political coverage. Pretty twisted stuff.

Hard to imagine that CNN would invite this gallant and chivalrous fellow back on the air, isn't it...

2. Brought to you by the maker of the most racist ad in US political history
Alex Castellanos made the famous affirmative action ad in the 1990 Senate race between Jesse Helms and Harvey Gantt: "you needed that job, but they had to give it to a minority..."

In retalliation I could say something really dreadful about Cuban-Americans, but I won't say it.

3. So by that rationale...
...I guess this is a way of giving McCain cover to call his wife a c***. These folks (conservative assholes) have real issues with women and I feel that most of them feel that way because they have to be with women rather than betray their party/church, when in reality they'd love to just be able to come out of the closet

5. I don't think it's repressed homosexuality...
At least, not when it comes to misogyny. They do have issues with women, but it's not that they're resentful for being forced to be with women but more a feeling of impotence. They've been told their worth is getting a woman to submit to them--for sex, marriage, whatever--so if a woman refuses to "do as she's told" it's threatening a man's masculinity. It's really no different from racist whites putting down blacks or other minorities; it isn't because they fear they may themselves be black, but because they need to feel superior to someone, because they fear they're in fact superior to no one.

And Alex Castellanos had better be careful what he wishes for.

(I voted for Obama in the NY primary, but I will vote for the Democratic nominee come November)

10. It's good to portray the GOP is such a negative light
This will end up backfiring on their party. I say give this man a bigger microphone and let him speak his heart out.

9. It's the ratings stupid!
hehe, no offense, just sounded kind of funny :patriot:

We see it most with Fox News. TV networks are all about the ratings. Controversy = ratings.

11. I'm offended..and I use the word like a common adjective.
I think referring to Hillary as "a bitch" is really cheap. Is that where we are going now? Maybe we should call the males "sons-of-bitches" or start referring to folks as c*ck-suckers? This is really cheap and cheesey.

I'm appalled that they even bring this crap up on prime time. Where have we sunk to? Are we going to start calling persons "niggers" and "wops" and "gooks" now? This clip lost me.

16. I completely agree!
"I think it would be accurate to characterize Obama as a house n*gger" WOULD NEVER FLY, and yet THIS does?? I don't agree with the current "it's all because of sexism" meme the Clinton campaign is currently throwing out there, but this is waaaaaay out of line and should be rightfully used as arsenal for the Clintonites.

13. Welcome to the Bitch Club, Alex.
"Some women, by the way, are named that, and it's accurate," Castellanos said. He went on to buttress his case by pointing out that Hillary is "abrasive, aggressive, irritating."

That reasoning works for some men, also.

Alex Castellanos is a cross dressing child molester when he's not on TV being a total jerk off. Inquiring minds want to know.
