1. Webb's book looks exactly like a Pres. candidate's book,
doesn't it? "A Time to Fight"? Rememeber "A Charge to Keep"? "A Call To Service"?

I think somebody's been talking with the Obama campaign.

2. I Sure Hope So
That they've been talking. There is no better choice to present a youthful
ticket that can reach out to independents. Webb's time as secretary of the
Navy for Reagan, his military clout, and his obvious near-genius I.Q., and
a grasp of the reality that is the Appalachian poor is like no other I had
heard in politics. There has been no better voice for calling out all the
GOP pretenders for their hypocracy and dishonestly. Weakest party on the
support of Vets and troops. Weak on the economy, they are there to work
for the rich elite and every other stance taken, from 'morals' to the
military are designed to fool those not rich to think they are there
for them. They are not, and never have been. If it's Obama/Webb vs.
McCain/Liarman, Jim will clean Joe's clock in a debate and a stiff
backbone and tenacity he has will reclaim the supporters of those
Democrats of old that seemed more about big issues (the working-
class, education, etc.) and less about the small divisive things
that the GOP wants us to focus on, as to appear weak. He is the
best choice as Olbermann and Lou Dobbs would no doubt agree on.

3. I'm starting to think that Webb would be the ideal running mate.
I hope that he's being seriously considered, and that he would eventually be open to the idea.

4. If the poor whites and blacks got together
Yes, that is exactly the point. Also, a side note: many Scotch-Irish who traveled west from the Appalachians are good solid Democrats.
