1. I Hope She Does Push for Nationalizing Oil
She win a lot of ppoints with the public for that.

It's why the right wing is trying to pre-empt this news story the way they are. They want to paint "Nationalizing" oil as a bad thing. It's bad... bad for the wealthy class.

25. COMMUNIZE the oil (and insurance) industry!
We should all get out in the street with signs that say "Communize Oil!" When an elected official says we need to "socialize" an industry it is treated as a blunder. But if everyday people all make a public statement to "communize" an industry - now, I bet the righty pundits would be speechless over that one!

2. They say "nationalize" in this case like it's a bad thing...?
The oil companies control whether this happens by their behaviors. Yell at them.

4. The oil industry has privatized our government.
In other words, big oil and our government are one and the same. Would the outcome be any different if it was done in the other direction?

6. The bosses would change
from the power elite to The People.

Oil is not the only industry that should be nationalized.

7. "The People?" you must be kidding.
"The People" don't have any say at all in what our government does.

13. That's why we need to nationalize the government.
You make a good point.

Corporations are not people and do not have citizen rights.

Limit the life of corporations to 50 years.

11. Great way to put it--!!! "Big oil has privatized our government" . . .!!!
Yes, if we nationalized the oil industry and our other natural resources, the outcome would be different ---

Though, let's hope the public would understand the plundering of natural resources, pounding them down into nothing, polluting the planet, is also a rotten idea.

We need alternative forms of energy which won't make us all sick -- including the planet!!

check out this thread on ANWR
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3330260

The Department of Energy now estimates opening up ANWR would only affect the price of oil by $0.75/barrel

A BARREL

9. Doesn't sounds like a "smear" to me
I doubt if she really wants to do that but if she does, good on her.

Of course faux viewers would recoil in horror at this concept - they'd much rather keep going in the direction we are now taking.

Hell no, I don't trust the government to get anything right anymore.
Put it in their hands and we'll end up paying $10 a gall.

20. Maxine Waters is right, if U.S. oil companies making demands to drill on public lands
...and off-shore in protected areas they should be nationalized to regulate pricing and salaries and profits period!

thats what i love about it...

you know, if they are going to pick somewhere as an example of why nationalisation doesnt work... you probably shouldnt use the country with 14 cent gas as the example.

24. Two questions. Mr. Rosen
While I don't believe any one in Congress seriously wants to nationalize the oil companies, what's wrong with that?

Second, are the people of Venezuela better off or are they not for the that the national petroleum industry is state run with the profits benefiting the welfare of the common citizens of Venezuela?
