1. Obama's fairly young
he'll drop that juvenile trash-talking humor at some point. Especially unappealing coming from a boss to a subordinate.

3. Obama shows that he has a good sense of humor.
It appears that everyone had a good laugh except you.

6. It was cute and light hearted... Juvenile trash talk? Give me a break.
But then again, I'm even younger than Obama so what the hell do I know? *rolls eyes*

7. To me the President sounded endearing and appreciative toward Gibbs. Everyone who works
in the WH has an incredible amount of stress and pressure...and most likely 60 to 70 hour work weeks.

The President has tremendous respect for his staff, and he also likes them.

12. I've never heard him talk trash. Can we get any video of that? He's got a great sense
of humor. He's relaxed, and a grown up, and pretty guileless as far as I can tell. I question a person's intelligence when they don't get a good sense of humor. Trash? You aren't worthy.

13. Yuk. How judgmental of you!
What is especially unappealing are those left without a sense of humor,
who take themselves so seriously to think that anyone cares what they
think of the humor of our President.

16. it shows Obama's human
Biden no doubt went through a similar phase, he wasn't always as genial as his is now in his golden years. Obama is a very good soul, he will someday reach the grace of an older leader like Biden or Ted Kennedy or Robert Byrd.

21. I'm glad he's young, and has a great sense of humor...
In fact, I wouldn't have it any other way.
But I'll let those who believe they are superior
attempt to make pronouncements as to what they would order.

In otherwords, to each his own.

24. "he'll drop that juvenile trash-talking humor at some point."
....Let's hope not. It's part of what sets him apart from other politicians. Many play at "being human". Obama is the genuine article. As for your statement, if you are Vulcan, then I understand completely. Live long and prosper. Thanks.

32. I'm surprised no one had the same reaction
maybe I'm too sensitive, but that's what I thought when I saw it. I also thought it was rude for him to say "hey" when he interrupted Gibbs doing his job, rather than "excuse me." Even in jest I thought it was rude. Anyway, no big deal, just what I thought.

35. Gibbs evidently wasn't upset and bantered right back
After Obama said he would do the job himself, someone off camera, presumably Gibbs, said, "See you guys later, have a great weekend" -- as if to say, all right, this guy says he's here to do my job, that means I can leave early and beat the Friday traffic.

You're right only to the extent that this kind of humor, especially from a boss to a subordinate, must be restricted to cases where you know the other person well enough to know that it won't be misunderstood. Obama is obviously confident that, after a long and grueling campaign, he has that kind of relationship with Gibbs. Gibbs's reaction is evidence that Obama is right.

37. "It's way cooler than it seems."
Obviously Gibbs feels comfortable dishing it right back to his boss. That was a refreshing however-many-minutes to watch.

I think he'll be just like he is 8 years from now - but we'll see.

I thought it was hilarious to see the looks on the faces of the reporters - talk about shaking up their usual Friday pattern.

My dad made me watch that movie when I was in high school. I'd bet Obama would've gotten the reference and laughed and laughed. He would've tipped his hat and kept walking, though. :)
