1. The Republican version of "I did not have sex with that woman"
but with a whole lot more serious consequences.

2. No comparison. War crimes vs. perfectly legal personal conduct?
This is the Bush version of Nixon's legal misconception, "Anything the President does is legal."

4. Oh course there is that comparison to Nixon
but I did add that the Bush crime organizations actions and justifications carried much more serious consequences than Clinton's personal misstep.

As for Nixon, he was as slimy as any but I don't think even he would have stooped to torture.

6. I was flashing back to the movie Frost/Nixon (love the double entendre)
when they all felt like they had 'gotten' Nixon when he said if the president does it, it isn't illegal. That's amazing, but it looks like Obama may just let them get away with it.

3. Wow the Bushies even get played by 4th graders
everyone else played them like a violin for 8 years so it is no surprise.

5. Hiding behind legal...
...definitions of this or that is what politicians of all stripes do best. Of course it was torture - Condi is just playing pedantic semantics.

On a slightly different note, I do take issue with the remark that the university student made, that the US did not torture their POW's in WWII. Again, it is a question of semantics, but Eisenhower and top military officials allowed hundreds of thousands of POW's to starve to death. Some estimates put the death of POW's (not just soldiers, but all sorts of ordinary Germans who were caught in the round ups) in US POW camps at over 1.5 million. Again - semantics - not overt torture according to legal language, but I imagine starving to death would be quite torturous.

12. Just ask wikipedia
At wikipedia. search "POW", sub-heading WWII, sub-heading "treatmenmt of prisoners by allies"

It surprised me. I knew the Russians had "meaned up" and there were very few Japanese POW's but it looks like the Allied POW camps may have looked a lot like Andersonville.

7. Claims of omnipotence
and omniscience, punctuated by denial, affected moral indignation and claims of legal immunity are s-o-o-o typically Republican.

11. The world watches
And the world sees our government do nothing. If people hadn't been tortured to death, or just simply tortured, there would be pleasure in watching these pretenders try to save their own asses. I look forward to their deathbed confessions. Maybe someday those now doing nothing will do some confessing too. What a waste.
