1. Oh, That We Were Back In 1946
Edited on Sun May-17-09 09:25 PM by MannyGoldstein
When war crimes were serious business in the US. Now it's just a political hot potato to be passed around until decent people gorget about it - and Obama hasn't even ended the outsourced torture program (that Holder green-lighted under Clinton).

Very disturbing stuff.

The Nuremberg judges are turning in their graves.

3. Holy shit,

I'm 42 and I've read about what those scumbags did countless times, saw tons of movies, documentaries and

pictures but that short clip still managed to make me cry. Thanks Reform.I hope that there

will be some form of justice for all the victims of the current monsters but I'm feeling pretty

pessimistic about that.Maybe in Europe ? :(

8. Yep.And sadly while searching for the entire PBS program on

the Net I ended up seeing repulsive Holocaust deniers videos. With all the amount of

proofs there are about what the Germans did some peoples are claiming it never happened.

So in 60+ years what will be the official story about Abu Ghraib,Gitmo and so on if

the denial is already beginning to take place ? :grr:

9. Important post. Too many people don't really understand today ...
... what Nuremberg was about.

Just as Eisenhower forced German citizens to walk through camps to see what was done in their name, the least we can do is release photographs and let America see the shame of what was done (is being done?) in *our* name.

How fallen are the mighty.

18. He did far more than that. He forced them to give the dead a proper burial.
The people he forced to do that still hate us for it to this very day. Nuremberg was selected as the location for the trial because of Germany's "Nuremberg Laws" that ultimately provided for the Holocaust.

Now for the scary part. The US Law against Genocide makes an exception to the charge if it is done as a matter of law. Genocide is almost always done as a matter of law. So our own law against Genocide is irrelevant and toothless. If the Holocaust occurred here in America. Our Genocide law would exempt the Nazi's from prosecution. Because they did it as an enforcement of the Nuremberg Laws. :wow:

13. Does everyone realize that "Well that was argued at Nuremberg" is an actual talking point?
There has been a blurring of the line of what was argued and what the final ruling was. Coincidence?

14. Top U.S. officials can't be sued for post-9/11 abuse
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The former U.S. attorney general and the FBI director cannot be subjected to a lawsuit by a Pakistani man claiming abuse while imprisoned in New York after the September 11, 2001, attacks the Supreme Court ruled on Monday.

The nation's high court overturned a ruling that Javaid Iqbal, who was held more than a year after the attacks, can proceed with his lawsuit against former Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller.

16. Walter Cronkite (with a C, my friend) is an American treasure, and a Boomer icon.
I adore that man, and am so very glad he is still with us.

He stepped down too soon, as he so readily admits.
