1. Michael Moore come through for us, again.
As shown in these heart wrenching clips,
the HMOs aren't interested in helping people
who are sick, including those who are near
death.

It's disgusting.

As a " leading " nation, we could do so much
better.

Universal healthcare is needed NOW!

2. perverse actions that capitalism causes
Both these clips show the perversities that come about when profit enters the healthcare system. In the second clip, a doctor from Humana tells a congressional subcommittee how she denied an operation to a patient, causing his death. You can see that she takes it very personally.

How cruel is a system that requires people to pass a death sentence on their fellow citizens? That's something I never thought about until I saw these clips.

The second clip is 13". I'm actually surprised it's on youtube. Catch it while you can!

Also, the second clip does an extremely effective job of showing how the right blew up Hillary's efforts on healthcare. Another very interesting part of this is how MM traced the beginnings of managed care. I won't spoil it for you: this is really something to see.

4. Actually
I up-loaded the second video clip to my Sevenload account, Sevenload has a 200MB file size limit, and no time limit that I know of.

18. I might not be able to
I've been living this film. I have been uninsured and uninsurable for twenty years. That means I get minimal care for a disease that is chronic, painful, and occasionally fatal. It means I get no preventive care at all.

All twenty of these years were spent as an RN, caring for others.

I am sick of being ignored to death by a country that does not care.

15. Just download it from the web, it has already been
pirated. Saw the whole thing and while good, it really isn't as good as his others.

11. "Thanks to the wonders of magnetic tape", we heard for ourselves one instance of how Republicans
favor big business. I've never heard the Erlichman/Nixon conversation (at 6:27) about how Edgar Kaiser devised a "private enterprise for profit" (more acceptable phrasing for Nixon) scheme to make more money by providing less health care (Nixon responds, "Fine" & "Not bad."). The next day on February 18, 1971, Nixon proposed "a new national health care strategy", in which he panders, "I want Americans to have the best health care in the world."

And the 1996 congressional hearing testimony of Linda Peno of Humana was astounding. (at 4:35)

Thanks so much, Nomad. I'm anxious to see the entire movie.

17. This documentary will be Moore's tour de force........
I doubt anything he could do after this will have the social impact this documentary will have. Not only that but many people will re-visit his other works and give them a second look. The right has almost succeeded in totally demonizing Moore, but this one is going to blow those jaundiced opinions right out of the water. This one is going to hit "the heartland" right where it hurts: literally.

I have one "rabid-righty" friend that parrots every reich-wing talking point when it comes to universal health care. He's promised to view "Sicko" with me and I can't wait to rub Moore's salt right into his open wounds. This documentary could change America. I only hope America has the will to go through with that change.
