4.  "They were only Iraqis"
And there you have it. American lives are the only ones that matter ... or should I say rich, white, Christian, American lives. :eyes:

Is there any wonder why the whole world hates us? :-(

5. Beyond being racist and immoral...
it's naive, ignorant and ethnocentric.

6. The one time Keith did a poor job as a journalist.
I add this woman to the growing list of jackasses that, when they had the opportunity to speak out, did jack shit and them come out later with some book or some press conference and try to play off their role in this entire Iraq fiasco. George Tenet, Colin Powell, and apparently, every retired general walking... They're all full of shit.

Keith never once tried to hold her feet to the fire and point out beyond all that "Oh there was CIA and they told us to" and "The people above me didn't care and knew" horseshit is the simple fact that it was HER facility. She was in charge and if she had refused to allow this to happen on her watch it might have had some effect in the short term. Sure she would have been transfered and probably demoted, but at least she'd be in the right. She never once spoke out to anyone about what was going on. Screw her and every other retired general that rubber stamped this bullshit by being silent about it then coming out later trying to make it seemed like they walked on water during it.

She said nothing cuz she wanted to keep her job, pure and simple. Why Keith kept lobbing lobbing softballs at her rather than demanding she answer for her complicity is very disappointing. Was she a scapegoat in the sense that those above her fed her to the press and the courts ans a perpetrator, hoping it would wet their appetite enough to stop asking the questions that count? Yes. Does that make her innocent? F*ck no.

7. You're Right
She isn't innocent and she could have done more sooner. But she did at least try at some point to get
attention put on those above her who choreographed the torture. As much as she had a role, if she did
not comply, they would have simply put someone else in her place who would. The bigger pictures that
is beyond even this particular prison's scandal is that Rumsfeld, Cheney & Bush all see what is in
clear terms examples of torture, as perfectly fine. All the GOP idiots running for prez except an
otherwise useless John McCain also think these 'not really torture' 'interrogation' techniques
are perfectly fine too. John makes the argument that torture confessions are not reliable as
tortured people tell you what they think you want to hear so you leave them alone. What is
amazing is this administration, and the 'more of the same' GOP idiots running think that
is not true (except for John, who was actually tortured.) It's another case of hawks &
cowards (all of them) never seeing combat, and thus having no idea how things work...
And a confused, easily led, macho-bigoted bunch of Americans, many who never saw any
combat, who would never send THEIR kids to Iraq but have yellow ribbons on the SUV
they drive, loving the idea of any of 'those (brown) people' being tortured too.
Until we get that 28% who think like that and still love Bush to wake up, this
isn't going to stop. Even with a Dem commander & chief if we win, blackwater
is ensuring a permanent Republican army. God help us, America is in trouble.
