I wonder if they had spent as much on this commercial as they had on back up valves, they might actually not have as big a problem right now. Oh well, money can only be spent once and this commercial was much more important than any REAL substance.

1. For that matter, why did they need commercials BEFORE the disaster?
Looking back on the "Hooray for BP! We're so environmentally-friendly!"commercials - BP graphic in the center of a daisy, etc... all the while shortchanging on safety.

2. Ironic isn't it....
That commercial is meaningless. After all, petrolium products are processed in the same manner by all producers.
No more ocean drilling is a good answer to this disaster. Time for rationing? The sun, wind and ocean currents have much to offer and are out there for the using.
