There is no explaining this away. He wants it left up to the individual business owner whether to allow 'people of color' into their establishment. But he is not a racist, lol. Like many of today's racists they are 'stealth racists'.

The worst thing you can tag them with is the racist label. Fortunately racists have no credibility in our society. Let's keep it that way.

They already called his ideas "dangerous" and all that in the primary, and he won big with their idiot voters so NOW what are they gonna do? What can they do? If the GOP specifically calls out teabag philosophy as nutzo, the monsters they created will be the end of them. If they don't, they will have to be constantly defending "ideas" like getting rid of public schools, that are ONLY popular with the extremist votes that THEY NEED!

Personally, I prefer if a business owner is a shithead racist, they not be forced to allow people of all (whichever race the owner disapproves of) in, because then I can clearly see that person is a racist piece of shit, and I will take my business elsewhere.

It's like the anti-nazi laws in Germany. They didn't fix the problem of nazism, they drove it underground, and in a way, have preserved it.


If you're black, and you try to get a burger, would you rather see a sign at the door saying you're not welcome, exposing the owner to boycotts, and other repercussions, or would you rather have a nice loogie in your burger, because the owner was forced by law to let you in?

I WANT to know who the shithead racists are. Let them self-identify. Fine by me. I will take my money straight to the businesses that treat human beings, like human beings.

gave you substandard care because you are (XYZ) race, and he or she was not free to refuse you service from the outset?
Is that better or worse than seeing a sign in the door that says you aren't welcome?

As a white person, do you think I prefer to know my doctor is a piece of shit, or that we have a thin legal veneer that hides my doctors racism from me?

I mentioned burgers, because most of the iconic photos the person I responded to posted, were in the 'simple' service industries like restaurants, or clothing/laundry shops.

I wouldn't agree with him on most issues, but he was interesting, sounded smart and like he might have something to offer... then he completely had a meltdown. Got really bizarre. It was painful to watch because he flat out refused to answer it time and time again. If you can't answer a question like that you got some problems.

the thing everyone either hates or SAYS they hate about pols is not answering questions straight up ... He spent 15 straight minutes filibustering tangentily in avoiding a simple yes or no question ...

I think Rachel let her guard down (by her standards) because she wants to like him ... There were a lot of other avenues to go at him on this, but she just did not seem as focused as she could be ...

I think the primary attack to Conoway should hit him with during the stretch run, among other things is that Paul is running for president, not to represent Kentucky ... Paul is dealing in very broad terms on everything, no real plan for specific issues AND he has all kinds of out of state money pouring in ...

Go after him on that kind of stuff HARD ...

That's the definition of "libertarian". A flight attendant can always tell the libertarians on a flight. When he/she asks "chicken or pasta" they immediately come back with "I'd like a kosher cheeseburger". A trainee flight attendant might come back with all sorts of responses from "we don't have cheeseburgers" to "sir, I might be able to find a vegetarian meal in the kitchen", but any attendant with experience knows to just drop them a complimentary bag of pretzels and ignore them for the rest of the flight. They really are low maintenance passengers, kind of like babies -- if they have a pacifier or a keyring or a couple pages of Ayn Rand to play with, they just coo and gurgle and look kind of cute (even when they spit up on themselves). But when the cabin pressure changes on descent or their ears (brains) get stopped up, they can come out with a blood-curdling wail that makes you think the wings are falling off the plane.

The best thing to do with a libertarian is to sign him up to debate a mime.

He didn't live through segregation to desegregation and is proposing a debate based on confused politics. Equating carrying a gun into a private own restaurant is not the same as refusing service to a human being. Being hispanic or black does not pose a threat in a bar for pete sakes. You can't have it both ways. Either you're going to protect inalienable rights as a human being or your not. The right to bear arms doesn't mean the right to openly carry anywhere you please. It is with regard to having an organized,trained responsible soldiers/person to protect from representative government that has fallen into anarchy or dictatorial infringements.

The 14th Amendment says "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law." I believe that covers refusing to serve someone based on their ethnicity by private owners running public establishments. Yes it still goes on but that's because the State is not enforcing the law. His constant attempt to proclaim he's not racist is not the issue as Rachel pointed out. It's will you protect the average person from being infringed upon when the State fails to enforce the laws of the land.

I don't personally believe that free speech meant to include hate mongering that incites violence or abuse of any of our citizens for the sake of making money or propagate paranoia and subversion. We can see how the abuse of such an important right has corrupted it. Speech refers to formal,and thoughtful communication. But political corruption of the electorate has led to political dumbing down of the representatives. Dr. Paul is an example of that.

I personally think he is the poster child for the Tea Party. Every time he does an interview they are going to ask him about the comments. I love it. So many people thought that the teabaggers had honest intentions but the truth shall prevail.Citizens for Prosperity,Freedomworks,Heritage Foundation,and all other entities,tried to make everyone think that it was a grassroots effort. But the truth is its the same old ugly lawn whose seeds were planted long ago.They were never fooling the America who live there lives with an inclusive society. Racism has tried to march in a subtle tone for the last forty years. But to those who live under it constantly, you can hear the screams miles away.Once America received a multi-cultural President with one of the ethnic backgrounds being of color, they could not take it. It really sad to see that though a person may be educated,have co-workers,or depend on a person of color somewhere, they can't see themselves for what they truly are. The negative part of the human race.
