7. Yeah it ain't gonna be fair to chaplin's in the military who want to preach hate and intolerance the
way they can now without facing the people they denounce, totally not fair.

8. Then they shut the fuck up.

Unless it is something that violates the rules of war or something that is a warcrime in addition to an affront to their faith then they should speak out. Otherwise Shut the fuck up and soldier.

This is another in a long line of examples of how the goddamned evangelicals are demanding special and superior treatment for their faith.

10. If we could just tax these churches just a half of one percent...
we might have health care taken care of ..instead we have to depend on their charity which means political operative and consultants p.r. firms get the lions share.

11. So does he also oppose Jews or atheists in the military?

Look, Christians of that type preach that anyone for whom Christ is not savior is going to Hell.

How do these chaplains cope with that now?

What's also weird here is that don't these people realize that DADT doesn't prevent gays from being in the military as things stand now? (it merely is an obstacle to honesty)

14. They cope with it by indoctrination
Edited on Sat May-29-10 11:35 AM by Bert
As someone who was in the millitary as 'no religious preference' which was the closest dog tags would come to saying atheist I was appalled at all of the religious indoctrination. From going to churches to running with chaplains, to even having chaplains. Got into some conversations with some fellow service members, one of whom seemed to take pride in his ignorance about not knowing what an atheist was, as if the thought of someone who could reject not only his ideology of god but all ideologies of god was something unthinkable. That isnt even including the things like wiccans and other religions who are recognized getting special religious priviledges. Let's not even talk about the things they do which are against the freaking law like hand out bibles in Afghanistan and etc, making this look like a religious war to all intents and purposes. The thing I like most about the potential repeal of DADT is it will make the chaplains go apeshit which in my opinion can only be a good thing.

15. It's long past time to point out
that not everyone's religious beliefs are worthy of respect and propagation. I can think of a number of mainstream religious beliefs that should have been laughed out of existence shortly after they showed up. That gays are worthy of extermination is one of those beliefs.
