2. The American people might rue the day a trillion dollars will have soon been expended/committed on
a pre-emptive war when considering what such sums could have accomplished to protect the environment, fight global warming, repair our infrastructure, and bring us to a developed-nation status with respect to delivery of health care to our population.

4. It probably is already too late. But that doesn't have to mean massive
famine as is predicted.

Scientists have a pretty good idea about what to expect, ergo, there is no reason not to start preparing for the worst global warming has to offer by taking advantage of the newly warmer areas for planting foods that will grow there and finding crops that will grow in areas that will no longer support what is grown there now.

We humans are supposed to be adaptable.

My guess is that the warming trends, that are currently melting the polar ice, will be short lived once the ice melts, cooling the oceans and then the entire planet.

We will go from warming planet to cooling planet in a relatively short time. Then it will be time to adapt again by growing cooler weather crops...

It may be a way that the Earth is trying to heal itself from all of the insults it has suffered over the last three hundred years.

9. Actually, no
I have a friend who has worked in Antarctica for over 45 years studying climate change. His team is one of the most knowledgeable on earth, yet their predictions keep coming true more than 100 years ahead of schedule. It's extremely alarming. When the ice is gone from an area, so is the great "mirror" that once reflected the sun's heat back out into space. What's left-land or open water-ABSORBS the sun's heat and causes the planet to heat more and faster. The other problem is that the changes may start to come so fast that the planet can't adapt to sustain life fast enough. Ocean flora accounts for 65% of the planet's oxygen giving plant life, but ocean "dead zones", where NOTHING lives- are growing. Millions of acres of trees are dying around the arctic circle because they are collapsing as the perma frost melts. Millions more are being burned by humans to make way for cattle pasture and cropland for crops that feed cattle. After a time, there will be far less oxygen being produced as greater amounts of CO2 are released, which will lead to rapid environmental collapse.

7. The operative word is "could"
it isn't "is" yet and that gives me hope. But I understand you. I have cried more than one night wondering what kind of world my son will live in... but I also know it can be different if we do all we can now to at least slow this down and teach our children to do the same. It isn't at "is" yet, so have faith.

3. SKY News-once again a non US news source talks about the most
important stories. Here we are, 4% of the planet's population using 24% of the planet's resources, and we can't get past our war of choice and pointless celebrity gossip. "It may already be too late" indeed. :-(
