And nobody has sympathy for investors.

The guy who took out the mortgage did wrong, the guy who gave him the mortgage did wrong, the guy at the top who maybe should have suspected the loan officer was crooked did wrong...it's only the unsuspecting investor that has clean hands. Not even all investors have clean hands. I bet a lot of those guys knew too.

I learned this concept from Frank Zappa's many interviews. "We are a nation of laws - poorly written and randomly enforced." To set the tone here - he said that we are extremely over lawed in the USA. So, at any given time, most of us are engaged in breaking some law some where. I can make my personal list of areas where I could get nailed if discovered and enforced. I think most of us can.

So, if you are an INDEPENDENT CRITICAL THINKER, then "the authorities", or "the powers that be" can arrest your ass and selectively legally persecute the hell out of you!

Lastly, if we didn't have such a highly cancer ridden CONSTITUTION, we wouldn't have to worry about threatening "the state" like we're all fucking living in Stalinist Russia or something. Our Founding Fathers had flaws, but they sure eas hell didn't want their dream of liberty and justice for all go totalitarian police state! Hell, my own Congressman told me to my face that we are two America's! (While I was discussing Matt Taibi's "Why isn't Wall Street in Jail" articles or something else similar?)
