1. "The lawyers said it (waterboarding) wasn't torture."
Edited on Mon May-09-11 12:11 AM by pacalo
(1) Did the lawyers experience waterboarding themselves before making that determination, &

(2) If Cheney is so sure that waterboarding isn't torture, why did he consult lawyers about it?

Those lawyers mentioned by Cheney as experts worked for the Bush/Cheney regime. They were more apt to find a legal loophole for justification purposes rather than give the regime reasons for not using this simulated-drowning technique. Simulated drowning is most certainly torture.

3. Person opinion
Darth Cheney needs to be water-boarded, also with his sock puppet, George W Bush.

As I said, that is person opinion, not a threat, or suggestion.

2. sing with me -- '...that old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be....'

the dustbin of history is where Cheney's opinion is going to end up... just look at that feeble old joke chatter away like he has anything truthful to offer

Hey old man Cheney, I guess if every nation defines its OWN version of torture, you'll have no problem accepting it when America's sons and daughters are being tortured in another country according to what THEY think is acceptable.

This man is as nutty as his daughter Liz (like father like offspring). What a waste of time and oxygen this GOP plankton is (and sorry to insult other low forms of life by using that comparison)

10. You have great points here.
We're only taking a break from our policy of torturing people. Since Barack "let's just look forward" Obama refuses to go after war criminals, waterboarding will be considered acceptable by the next administration.

8. Fox News is disgusting
I can't even bear to watch it for more than a few minutes, it is absolutely vile, every one of the creeps on Faux News needs to be tarred, feathered, and ran out on a rail, old school style.

9. Hey, our guys get it too when they're being trained.
Are our soldiers under the impression that they might die from it? Do they tell the "terrorist" beforehand it won't kill him? I can't see it as the same thing. Looks more to me like the kind of acts we prosecuted other countries for doing to our soldiers. I'm sure any country can find a crooked lawyer to say it's legal.

12. Waterboarding may not be torture
Sounds like this is a disputed point that can only be solved in a court of law; let Bush, Cheney, Yoo, Et. Al., make their case at the Hague to the International Criminal Court. It’s the only way can put this to rest, once and for all.

18. Waterboarding may not be torture
Sounds more like a desperate attempt to get the egg off their face because their methods didn't work,... so bring up some ancient fake controversy that our current administration refuses to clarify or put to rest out of some kind of... I dunno

fear?
misplaced decorum?
laziness?

20. hmm...
Their's is a rather tenuous position, predicated upon unadulterated mendacity. If they were indeed secure in their assertion that 'waterboarding is not torture,' they would hie immediately to ANY court of law to make their case.

13. Maybe it's a good idea...
Perhaps if they were to waterboard Cheney perhaps they would get the truth out of him. Or maybe not. It's worth a try . . .

After all the Obama killed this and Obama finished that, it is important to have on guests who are *not* experts on killing Bin Laden or finishing the job.

And a war profiteer of the highest order.
Oh yeah, one more thing. He's a douche bag, a really big douche bag.
