Mike Papantonio holds nothing back when confronted with the right wing lies about how torture is necessary to keep America safe. Watch as he takes on a panel of Fox folks who believe that we should torture any and every detainee the military captures.

3. this is why we should never let go of the morality of torture.
And see how they use it....if it is OK to shoot someone in the face why not water board them....when you turn loose of the morality of any one of those things you have a slippery sloop that eventually allows it all.
i would not at all be surprised to see the police use the same rational to do their own "enhanced interagation"...after all they save lives.

5. Right. Why not waterboard your kids if it works? It's just
a little water, after all. We seem to be losing our grip on what is right and wrong.

6. The end justifies the means.
A long time ago when I went into the Navy...1960...they showed us propaganda films to pump up our patroitism....and I remember how they stressed that our enimies....the Communist in the USSR did not have the high moral ground that we had....the commies believed that the end justifies the means as Marx is said to have preached...and they emphasized that we were better than that. And I think we were then...
But we are not in Kansas any more Scotty

7. Well, I wasn't here yet in 1960 but I see us as always having
viewed ourselves (as a nation) as the good battling the evil.

When first asked about waterboarding, the Bush administration vehemently denied torturing anyone. Now they seem to be proud of it, and what scares me more is the apparent acceptance of the American people to this idea. You mention the slippery slope but it seems to be slanted more than a slope.

What (just curious) do you suppose they show our young men and women now to pump up their patriotism?

8. Probably Rambo like movies.
And our decline in morality probably started back then with those kind of movies....which mostly held that the end justifies the means....got a problem with some brown skinned people?... send in Rambo.
In all of those kind of flicks the enemy is so evil that morality does not apply.

9. American accept torture?
Correct me if I'm factually challenged, but wasn't there a recent survey for people under 25 where 60% of them said torture is just dandy and completely acceptable?

It's immoral and doesn't work and jeopardizes OUR GUYS when they get captured by our enemies. Plus it makes us just as bad as the terrorists when we do it. Isn't America supposed to be morally superior to terrorists, after all?

12. You're 100% correct, 90-percent.
Torture yields bad information and makes us the bad guy. We think we're morally superior to EVERYONE, but we certainly don't appear to be.

4. Still not pointing out the fact that the waterboarding they're
talking about was years ago. Even if waterboarding led to the courier, it cannot be an effective way of extracting information if the results are years away. Applying the same logic to their tired football stadium scenario: If the waterboarding was to lead to a bomb in a crowded football stadium, the stadium would've blown up long before we found the bomb.

10. Bolling ? Get out the hook. The guy is all for waterboarding.
Better yet, get out the board, wet towel and a bucket of water if he loves it so much.
