1. Blown way out of proportion
For all the good Ed does on a daily basis, dealing with policy, ideas, and complex issues, for the use of a single derogatory word to create such a brouhaha is completely absurd. Ed, you just keep doing what you're doing. This is plain stupid.

11. OMG, I couldn't agree with you more. I think that apology was enough; in fact, it was over
the top, considering the 24/7 vile rhetoric of Fixed News. That Ed was standing in a tv studio apologizing for something he said on the radio just reeks of the tangled mess caused by media conglomeration. What Ed said was wrong, but that heartfelt apology was enough in these strange, contentious times that were brought to us by the Republicans.

Ed looked like he was about to break down both times he mentioned his family. I feel so badly for him!

I'm so tired of the double standard caused by corporate meddling in the news! The only network that is given free reign to say anything without consequence is Fixed News. How do you like that.

I'm thoroughly disgusted.

29. Ed, you shouldn't have to apologize for telling the truth.
I can tell you hated apologizing to the bimbo, but you made the effort, good kid.

5. Boys can be sluts too.
On the other hand, "slut" is a corner-boy expression, very unclassy. You don't want to call a woman a slut EVER, even if she's a right old whore.

And as Democrats we should hold to higher standards. Because the Republicans can drop low into the muck, doesn't mean we have to follow them.

Ed Schultz is long on passion and short on facts which is why I don't watch his MSNBC show.

Ed, calling people names like slut is bad form - time for you to apologize. If you want to use hate speech while broadcasting, change your ideological affiliation to conservative.

8. Ed has a lot of passion and a lot of heart
and sometimes we all say things before we think. I believe he did the absolute right thing by apologizing. His apology was heartfelt and now he needs to get his voice back on air and move forward from this. It takes a sincere person to admit their mistakes and I applaud Ed for doing just that. I sure will miss his voice right now and can't wait for him to come back as his show isn't going to be the same without his passion and his heart standing up for the middle class. We need you Ed and hope to see you back very soon.

9. It's what Ed did not say!
IF I OFFENDED ANYBODY.......

You can tell Big Ed is not a douchebag conservative but a man who like many of us here, get caught up in the moment.

You don't hear apologies as sincere from the right wing. I wonder why?

14. Our guys have class and a sense of shame, theirs don't
Never heard Coulter apologize for calling a former v-p a 'total fag.' (Limbaugh and Hannity cheered her on, and said it was "about time" conservatives started fighting back)
Never heard Limbaugh apologize for calling a twelve year-old Chelsea Clinton 'the white house dog." Nugent is unapologetic for calling Hillary Clinton a bitch, and Hannity refused to condemn it. Beck made fat jokes about Elizabeth Edwards throughout the 2004 campaign and never said he was sorry.

They always stick to their slurs, hide behind the flag of not being politically correct or claim they were just kidding. Or, in Rush's case, he blamed the comments on his producer.

But never an apology from these folks. Ever.

Not defending Ed's mistake, but noting the difference in how our side tries to make amends, while their side stands proudly by the remarks.

16. Well, if he was Glen Beck, he could have said "I'm sorry. should have called you a RW pimp instead."
Edited on Thu May-26-11 12:50 AM by cascadiance
It worked for Beck and that seemed sufficient for Fox when Beck apologized for calling Cindy Sheehan a "tragedy slut". He switched to calling her a "tragedy pimp" in his apology (and subsequently called her that a number of times), and that seemed to be OK with Fox management.

Hmm... Seems like the left always has to deal with different rules.

I wonder what would have happened if Ed had spent a good part of his radio show pondering how he would kill Andrew Breitbart what would have happened, which was what Beck did when he postulated how he might kill Michael Moore on the air one night. You know any leftie would have been fired and perhaps even arrested for those kind of comments.

We really have a double standard unfortunately.

Thanks though, Ed, for stepping above the fray and trying to make things right again. We know its a challenge to speak up and be heard without being flamboyant, and yet we have barriers put in front of us selectively that the other side doesn't.

20. Now let's hear Limbaugh's apologies for the horrible things
he calls prominent Democratic figures and spokespersons.

If Ed were a Republican, no one would care.

MSNBC was just looking for a reason to hire a right-winger like the former head of the Republican National Committee.

Watch MSNBC's ratings fall if they continue on this path.

Olbermann is out, and Ed Schultz is threatened. This will hurt MSNBC with most of their loyal viewers.

Edited on Thu May-26-11 04:45 AM by Sky Masterson
The truth is it probably needed to.
Calling that hateful,lying,vile,cold-hearted weaselette a "Slut" is still going to far.
I don't care for Ed all that much.
And I don't think that need a left Limbaugh.
And that is what he comes off to many as(Even if he is telling the truth and is right).
His style is a preaching to the choir style and it just turns off those who may actually benefit from his reporting.
I actually think his presence on MSNBC discredits MSNBC and I wouldn't mind if they moved his show even later.
I'm probably alone on this.

28. Ed Schultz is a tool, a loudmouth, a partisan hack, an empty vessel.
Or, shortly, a left-wing Bill O'Reilly.

How anybody can stand to watch more than 30 seconds of this guy without turning it off with a headache, is beyond me.

Give me Rachel Maddow over this prick any day.
