3. Michele Bachman would be foolish to take on a debate with a kindergartner.
I don't think that this will hurt her following because any teabagger would consider this 10th grader to be somebody with a "fancy education"

4. If Bachmann doesn't respond..
.. maybe Amy should take it to YouTube and debate her foolish public statements point for point.

5. Not a fair fight.
One is an intelligent young woman armed with real facts and the other is Bachmann.

6. Myers could get real equestrian veterinarian education and experience in a debate with Bachmann.

Myers would get to see a real horse's ass up close.

7. Is it just me or is Lawrence O' Donnel acting like a jerk in this interview?
Edited on Tue May-31-11 06:09 AM by TheEuclideanOne
He seemed like he was coming down hard on this girl with all of this "That's not fair!" crap for her expecting a politician to know about history of their country. I thought that was pretty sad, IMHO.

The way that I see it, just the fact that a high school student was so insulted by Bachman's lack of knowledge about her own country that she even thought to challenge her is statement on its own. But to follow that with the interview taking the slant that it is unfair for a high school student to challenge a grown politician about politics to me shows just how low our expectations lie.

I think that O'Donnell should apologize to this young girl for having such a rude tone to her. Normally, I really like him and was surprised for him to take this angle.

On the show, "Are you smarter than a fifth grader?" nobody comes down on the fifth graders for challenging the adults. If the adult loses, nobody consoles them and says that it was not fair for the fifth grader to show them up like that. I have only seen the show a few times, but if I remember correctly, the adult comes off looking pretty stupid if they lose. And they should.

8. It's just you...
That was a set up question, designed to make the point that Bachman doesn't know what she should know. Many adults would think the same thing: "She's just learning it. I took that decades ago!" But it gives her a chance to state her entire point. If you are a politician, and you're giving speeches on the subject, you should brush up and know what you are talking about.

10. Well...
I don't think he was a jerk for that reason. But in the usual MSM fashion he focuses on the cute aspects of the issue. Wouldn't that be fun to moderate this debate, or more precisely, to chatter about moderating a debate that Bachmann would never agree to join?

If he had any sense of responsibility, he would have let this intelligent woman talk all she wanted to about Bachman's idiocy, and her serious misconceptions about the Constitution, and everything else. Repeat as often as it takes this basic truth: that Democrats have more informed and articulate women in our high schools than the female leaders of the Republican party.

(By the way, in case I sound condescending to women, I would emphasize that Ms. Myers, and most good high school students, probably know more about the US Constitution than the male Republican leaders, too. I think it's only sexism that makes anyone think Bachmann is any ditzier than Newt Gingrich.)

Catching Bachmann on a trivial historical error-- the location of Lexington and Concord-- doesn't get anywhere near the heart of the matter. You would almost think that O'Donnell deliberately steered away from the serious issues. I would call that being a jerk.

12. Amy's Challenge Reminds Me Of...
...the Gore/perot debate in 1993. perot demanded to debate President Clinton about NAFTA. Gore accepted the challenge and wiped the floor with perot. Now, NAFTA pros & cons aside, perot's ego was so big that he didn't see that by accepting Gore's challenge he was admitting that he wasn't worth the President's time.

Amy's challenge to bachman is the same. If crazy woman accepts she'll be humiliated. If she doesn't, she looks afraid of a teenager. Well played, Amy! :patriot:

PEACE!
