Of their many false reasons to attack, wouldn't it be funny to just say the truth .."this is just something we really want to do."

No they'll probably get desperate and have to distract us by doing something big and shocking. Then start the attack because they'll say Iran was the reason for it.

I think they're having a tough time with the military. The American sheeple will either go along, "Go USA!" style, or shrug their shoulders in despair and cry themselves to sleep. What's to worry about?
