Here's a slice of life in Wisconsin now that the voter ID law is in effect. This is just unbelievable -- the hoops that have to be jumped through to obtain the "privilege" (not right) to vote in that state.

This little bit of fascism threatens to overtake the entire country. How can we stop this dead in its tracks. This needs to stop and stop now!

1. As soon as they get away with it there it will go nationwide.
that should pare down the vote where they can steal it anywhere and anytime.

2. Refuse To Show Photo ID When Voting During Recall Elections and Still Vote

It won't be required, but poll workers will be asking for specific photo ID when you go to vote during the recall elections this summer. The Republicans in the Assembly and Senate have already swiftly passed the Voter Suppression Bill (Assembly Bill 7) by cutting off debate, and Governor Scott Walker likely won't find a conscience before signing it into law.

The bill includes a provision requiring that poll workers request to see specific photo ID before voting, but not requiring the ID to vote. The provision was added to confuse voters into believing they must show ID to vote in the recall elections, hoping to suppress Democratic voters in order to keep the radical-right stranglehold on Wisconsin. Don't be fooled, you don't have to show ID to vote until 2012!http://publius9.blogspot.com/2011/05/refuse-to-show-photo-id-when-voting.html

Now our recall election representatives who give the Dem.'s a majority hopefully can get rid of this.....

4. I will vote at my city clerk's office here in La Crosse tomorrow for the recall of Kapanke.
When I voted in the primary here a few weeks ago with the fake Democrat I was asked for an ID and I told them "no", that I knew the law and did not require one until 2012. The clerk knew I was legally able to vote and so she gave me a ballot and when done she gave me a brochure about the new law.

I was told they were "practicing" to get up to speed for the new law. Evidently this is all very rocket science to them.

If we manage to take control of the Senate though, Democrats will still not be able to get rid of this. We can, however, turn out and vote in every election from hereon out and eventually that will make a big difference.

3. Nice video. Rather than just complain about it, or call it fascism,
we have to work to do what we can do to overcome this. This situation is not going to change anytime soon. So Democrats will need to take it upon themselves to identify these people and educate them about the law and to aid them in any way possible in obtaining an ID. In the same way we help people get to the polls if they need it, we help them to get their voter IDs if they need it. We have the organization and the volunteers to do this and even the money needed would be well spent. We are not helpless.

Yes, the voter ID thing is not right and there are many hoops to jump through. There are many social programs and benefits for which people are eligible and they need to jump through hoops to get them. Many cannot managed to do it on their own and need help. We, the Democrats, can be the ones who help people get through the hoops set up by the Republicans to suppress the vote.

This also highlights why it is so vitally important for each and every one of us who even with voter ID are easily able to exercise our right to vote. The GOP does not have to do any work to suppress the vote when Democrats choose not to vote.

6. Wow! Last year I took my then 18 year old son to the DMV to get his State ID
card since he was not yet ready to drive.

When I got my first Florida Drivers License, I had to take my birth certificate and my social security card. That was 36 years ago. It cost $10.00.

For my son's FL ID card, we had to take his birth certificate, his social security card, and two items to prove residency -- bank statements were not acceptable. We took the electric bill and the land line phone bill. The electric bill is in my husband's name alone, so I took my marriage license "just in case" and the phone bill which had my husband's and my names on it. I also took my ID to show that I was my son's mother.

The woman was super nice, (I didn't need to show my marriage license) and offered to register my son to vote at the same time.

But the cost of the ID was $35.00.

I'm not sure what changes have been made in the ID requirements since then. Charlie Crist was governor in 2010. Rick Scott Voldemort is governor now...

11. one of the wonderful effects of a state with no income tax, and every fee is very high, and thus -
to vote, you have to be able to get an ID = poll tax.

These fascists want to make everything like the restrictive life in the harshest of Arab countries. Florida is going to be a challenging state for sitting Senator Nelson to win next year with this BS law. Gov. Skeletor Von Voldemort will do everything in his power also to circumvent the vote in highly Democratic areas. We are living in trying times, because to hell if the people as a majority wanted the living dead as our governor - he stole millions from the gov't and his approval rating was low when they first started polling it and it's went down since.

I live here in Wisconsin I have my photo driver's license, etc., but this is really jaw-droppingly grim ... much worse than I imagined it would be, and I knew it would be bad.

17. Don't show ID for recall voting
My son went to vote for Jim Holperin. He wouldn't show his ID and said he didn't have to. The poll worker was really adamant and would not give him a ballot. The poll supervisor wouldn't give him one either. They finally called the County Clerk who said he didn't need the ID but the poll worker wouldn't give my son a ballot until the CC ordered her to.
