This is rough video of Gore's speech in Colorado on October 2, 2007. He lists a litany of warnings that * ignored.

The latest information about just how outrageously badly Bushco and Tenet sold out Valerie Plame brought this video to mind.

1. We did the right thing by invading Afghanistan?
Come on. The war against Afghanistan was almost as much of a war of aggression as Iraq. There's little difference between the two.

This is not a problem that can be solved, or even helped, by military force. The government should have just said, "alright, we've been attacked because of our dependence on oil. It's time to put every federal resource into breaking the oil habit, so we won't have to invade some middle eastern country every 5 years, and we won't have to continue to arm the Israelis." Oh, and how much oil has been used in invading Afghanistan, Al? Anybody that's remotely honest with themselves knows that our problems with the Arab world have nothing to do with terrorism and everything to do with meddling in their countries because of their oil reserves. Thus, using military force, to any extent, is just continuing more of the same failed policy that has forces us to roll out the red carpet and kiss on that murderous, misogynistic, theocratic Saudi Royal Family every time they come over.

That said, I'm sure he took things more seriously than Bush did, and his passion about global warming is great.

2. The invading Afghanistan statement is a bit of a sour note with me too -
and, still, there is "invasion" to get bin Laden out and drag him into an International Tribunal and there is "invasion" with daisy cutters (bombs so powerful they destroy everything in the vicinity, cutting down even daisies) for the purpose of destroying the Taliban who had effectively ended the growing of opiates and so were cutting into the profits of super-wealthy drug-dealing friends of friends of the Bushes (as in the CIA profits from drug sales).

And we would have never invaded Iraq. And Gore when asked recently about invading Iran had an excellent, concise response: "Insane."
