Starting around 3 minutes is when it gets really good - talk about speaking from the heart!!!

"The House debates the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), H.R. 3685, to be followed by debate on the bill itself. In 30 states, it is currently legal to fire someone simply because of his or her sexual orientation. This bill will prohibit employers, employment agencies and labor unions from using an individual's sexual orientation as the basis for employment decisions, such as hiring, firing, promotion or compensation. The bill extends federal employment protections to gay, lesbian, and bisexual workers similar to those already provided to a person based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability. Rep. Barney Frank speaks against the motion to recommit from the Republicans, which contains redundant language but would intentionally kill the bill by delay."

7. I thought it was just very, very, very, very insecure...

At the end of the day, it all comes about the insecurities of a bunch of white folk, with non working, fairly small sexual organs.

You'd be surprised about the amount of grief that the stigma of sexual inadequacy by some males has brought on the world...

In any case, what do you expect from conservatives. If they had their way, i.e. preservation of the old ways (which is the definition of conservatism), we would have never left the trees and we would be still be running around like monkeys. I am surprised that after hundreds of thousands of years of being wrong, they still have people taking their shit seriously.

5. I see zero reason to applaud this.
The most discriminated against latter in GLBT is the T.

We needed this the most, and Barney decided it was okay to just toss us out like garbage.

Way to Go!

not.

6. I agree with you and I have been very consistent
with my position that Barney and groups like HRC are wrong for supporting the removal of T.

Stripping ENDA of its language prohibiting discrimination on the basis of gender identity and expression is absolutely wrong.

My position is we're in this as a team and we don't leave anyone behind.

But that's not what Barney was talking about in that clip. He was lecturing the bigoted assholes on the other side of the aisle on how discrimination of any kind in the work place is wrong.

I can disagree with Barney, yet still support him in general. He is an invaluable voice to our over all cause in Washington.

I don't recognize you as a regular voice on this board when it comes to LGBT issues. I'm glad you spoke up and I hope you will continue to do so.

14. Politics is a game of baby steps.
It's like a wellplayed game of cards. You do no risk all your money on one unsure hand. You pace yourself and keep pushing. To do otherwise is to lose everything that we've worked for. Can't you be happy for the first three and then strive for the fourth on the basis of the prior instead of getting nothing at all?

9. Barney rocks!
I've been thinking about what I'm going to do next election day. It looks like Hillary is going to coast right through and if she does I get a choice between a pro-iraq war,pro-ww3 with iran, pro-lobbyist, pro-outsourcing, corporatist candidate and a pro-iraq war,pro-ww3 with iran, pro-lobbyist, pro-outsourcing, corporatist candidate. The govt screams of "TERRA! TERRA! TERRA!" might be 20% lower in volume under Hillary but thats hardly a reason to vote.

Thank you for reminding me of why I need to hold my nose and vote for her anyway if she gets the nod.
