Privatized type FEMA companies that charge a $50,000 membership fee & an additional $15,000 annual fee? How many of us could possibly afford that? And if it isn't enough that you lose your home because you can't afford to pay the insurance companies for additional service (like spraying your home with flame retardant), the elites then blame the victims who couldn't afford the additional premiums.

Our social safety net, where we all shared in the risk, is being dismantled, starting with the Reagan era. We were once a country where you could climb as high as you want, but, thanks to shared risk, you were limited in how far you could fall. Now, however, only the elites can afford a safety net & the rest of us be damned.

My, what a nasty group of greedy, stingy bastards. We have truly lost our way.

I posted a reference to the original Democracy Now video and transcript yesterday. and It got zero recs and sank like a stone here at DU.

What I'm learning is that it's crucial to edit the video, upload the clip to YouTube, and post in the video forum in order for it to get noticed. Apparently a lot of folks don't have time to click through to the original source and load a video player like RealPlayer.

I just keep on loading Naomi Klein wherever I find her - the most important framing of the important issues of our time. Your welcome! I'm sorry I missed your post.

Same for Naomi Wolf and a few others. And wish I could find a quick means of editing RealPlayer and WMP video for upload to YouTube. I would actually use my YT account.

Wonder also if the documentary from the "Children of Men" DVD has been posted here yet. Klein appears there in a number of scenes. It is available on YT in 3 segments, and on Google Video unedited.
