As a democrat, I often find myself looking in frustration at what republican candidates have to offer because of the inability of senate democrats to stand up against the president. They aren't strengthening their platform or rallying their base. Its ridiculous! How about the 4 or 5 D-Senators who keep voting away from their party? Shouldn't the Democrats be better able to rally their party together, at LEAST on key issues? Its absolutely ridiculous and makes me want to vote republican just to show them that their alienating a lot of the Left.

How about the moderates?? Hmmn? If the democrats in congress don't start doing a lot more that they COULD do, people on the fence may just look to the Republican party as the party of strength and leave the democrats out cold.

Not to say that democratic leaders have to be fear-mongerers like the neo-cons and the current leaders of the republican party, in order to rally their party. There are better ways, there have to be, to rally, and the democrats need to find those ways. How about issues of poverty or helping to better the welfare of middle-class Americans, through infrastructural change and more aid programs from the government? You'd rally me with that!

2. More "boo hoo, we can't do anything" so we'll wait to run against
the war while we have another 14 months of death and hatred of America to rack up. Lame.

When Republicans want something, they pull on EVERY lever they have to get it, every time. Democrats never want anything badly enough to make it happen.

6. Still no mention of NOT sending any bill. Don't need 60 votes then
and if repubs make one up it only takes 40votes to keep it from coming to a vote. Funding with conditions or no funding at all. The dems could do that. Bush has enough money to bring 'em home at any time without getting anymore funding. Support the troops by protecting them. It's tearing us apart if we continue to fund it.

7. I agree 100%. The Dem's have to start fighting. Their approval ratings are low
because they are not fighting back. They are letting the repukes dictate the battles. If we don't have the 60 votes, then force the repukes to filibuster. Then go to the media and threaten to outlaw filibusters, the nuclear option.
