I am completely unfamiliar with this situation, but am disheartened to learn of yet another area in the world where people are living in such pain.

There are some articles too numerous to mention, on the war in Sri Lanka. Including an incident in which the Tamil Tigers, used prop planes to confound the Sri Lankan Air Force and Army in a raid on Columbo.

of this crap. ME! Sitting here in my cozy house in the U.S. having no comprehension of what it might be like to be living in a region engaged in civil war... and I feel I can't take any more. I don't know how these people persevere. Not sure if I could. How is it that you're familiar with it?

Are stationed at McChord? Years ago, one night I was driving on to the base to see a friend and the MP at the gate had a teeny little kitten under his jacket that he was feeding part of his cookie to. He said a car had pulled over to the side of the road, put out the kitten, and taken off. The MP was worried about what would happen to the kitten after his shift. Not to worry - I adopted him on the spot and named him McChord, of course. I really loved that cat!
