1. It's about time Klein got some major media exposure. Highly recommended video!
I also highly recommend reading this book. It answers many questions I had as a kid regarding foreign policy and U.S. relations in Latin America in the 60's as 70's. Plus a few hundred I have now.

I think BushCo is purposely laying the groundwork for economic disaster in order to push through a slew of privatization policies -- medicare, social security, tax collection, and on a local level, fire/police protection and water supply/distribution. I believe this applies to climate crisis too. I hate to be so paranoid but it's the only explanation I can come up with why this administration has appeared so inept in the past seven years. It's not incompetence. Their policies are already written out, honed to perfection, and just waiting for the next disaster.

2. I read the book.
It's a great book, and I think we're going to need it very soon.

If you have a foreign passport, by the way, I'd suggest it be kept up to date; some money stashed away outside the country wouldn't hurt either.

5. The best but most depressing book ever written.
I sent Ms Klein an email which said the following: Thank you for your book. It was the most painful book I'd ever read, but I am a believer in the truth. You have given me the absolute truth.

7. Yeah, it was tough to get through. I could read only a few pages at a time.
The truth is right. Ms. Klein has identified the most important story of our time and done an excellent job in doing so. Her book explains soooo much.

9. She's brilliant...and more proof that our party needs to get more ideological
and I include all our candidates in that remark.

The dismantling of government and the gospel of privatization were at the core of the Reagan "revolution." Unless an until we specifically promote the value of strong government to this Americans we won't begin to roll back the tide.

Obama begins to talk about it here. I'd like to see comments like this part of a broader critique of the public/private dynamic in this country:

Q: A few months ago, we ran a cover story called "The Case for National Service."

A: One of the things I think I can bring to the presidency is to make government and public service cool again. There's such a hunger among young people for some outlet for their idealism. That's why you see these movements around Darfur or climate change. You don't see it expressed in terms of people wanting to serve in the Justice Department or the foreign service. Why should they, when the core missions of those agencies have been gutted?

13. She put the pieces together
and the picture is not a pretty one. I sincerely hope that this brilliant woman looks to her own protection; she is a treasure that should not be lost.

A chat with Valerie Plame is in order.

Naomi Klein and also, Naomi Wolf are providing a service for people who can't seem to put everthing together and see the whole picture. I also suggest reading "The Bush Agenda, Conquering the World One Economy at a Time" by Antonia Juhasz. If you put all three together, it becomes obvious and one sees the battle between corporate control vs real democracy clearer. And it isn't going to be over when the bushies leave office.

15. I have this book on CD and have been listening - it is a MUST READ...
..for everyone - it explains all that Republicans stand for and their M.O. before and especially since 9-11 an in Iraq and after Katrina. Ms. Klein has hit the nail right on the head with this one - she NAMES it, identifies it and spells it all out in detail.

She verily pulls the covers off the Republican / neo-con machinery.

AND - that said, John Edwards is RIGHT - there IS a wall around the White House and around these multinational corporats who plunder OUR nation, OTHER nations, and society both here and abroad for PROFIT. The plutocracy is an IMMORAL machine and it MUST be stopped.

THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN and it MUST be fixed. THIS IS the moral test of our time.
