Edwards is the only one who will work to get us universal health CARE - not universal health insurance!

1. Go, Edwards!
I really think he's the one to get us on the right track. It won't be done overnight. Heck, it won't be done in eight years, but I believe the man has evolved into the leader I hope to vote for.

10. Edwards Supports War
Newsflash: Killing 1,000,000 innocent people ain't progressive!

2. Why Doesn't He Speak in Support Kucinich's HR 676 Then?
Under H.R. 676, Medicare would be extended and improved so that all individuals residing in the United States would receive high quality and affordable health care services. They would receive all medically necessary services by the physicians of their choice, with no restrictions on what providers they could visit. If implemented, the United States National Health Insurance Act would cover primary care, dental, mental health, prescription drugs, and long term care.

Kucinich 08...Right Then...Right Now...Right For America :patriot:

6. IN the first place, it's John Conyers bill, and second, it will take 10 years to implement it.
Edwards plan does the same thing, in a different way.

8. I Don't See Any Similarities
between the Edwards "Insurance" backed plan and the Conyers-Kucinich plan for Not-For-Profit Health Care for all, but if it floats your boat then more power to ya. I wonder why our members of Congress chose a Kucinich like plan for themselves instead of a Edwards style plan. Maybe they will opt to change theirs to the Edwards style coverage??

11. How long does Edwards estimate it would take for his plan and
where did you get the 10 years to implement a single-payer system?

Also I am not sure he answered this question adequately...

"How do you get the insurance companies to back off from running health care?"

I know his plan speaks of limiting the profit on insurance companies, having to spend 80-85% on health care, although I do not know how feasible this would be and if Congress would approve of mandating a profit percentage for private corporations.

Can we limit the profit percentage for oil companies and give tax credits for increased oil prices?

:)

3. He's damn right too...when you see the anti-universal healthcare ads...
...FOLLOW THE MONEY. That'll tell ya who is behind them - and who stands to continue profiting from the status quo in healthcare - likely it'll be some drug or insurance company.

4. Not what his web site says.
The Edwards Plan achieves universal coverage by:

* Requiring businesses and other employers to either cover their employees or help finance their health insurance.
<snip>
* Creating regional "Health Care Markets" to let every American share the bargaining power to purchase an affordable, high-quality health plan, increase choices among insurance plans, and cut costs for businesses offering insurance.
* Once these steps have been taken, requiring all American residents to get insurance.

he says what is palatable to the room.

5. I pray he is nominated: not only are his values truly progressive, but he will win.

7. "Are you willing to stand with me?" That, right there, is the crux of the matter!
Everyone wants to complain, but very few want to put in the effort to see it through!

As I keep saying, we will get Universal Single Payer health care when we all DEMAND it, and not one second sooner.
