about that. When asked by the committee(Virginia Republican Warner) if the surge was making the America safer the General's answer was not yes, but rather"I don't Know." That was not part of his "job description". But what the FU@& YOU don't know? Of course you know. You wrote the FU@&ing BOOK on this stuff.
His JOB was to make Iraq clearer of terror, for a time, in certain areas.
And he did. In that way the surge "worked", unfortunately the part where GEORGE was supposed to come in and make everybody make nice "countrywide", well let's just say that did NOT happen. The General new it would not happen. He new he was sacrificing his men at the alter of politic, not at all unusual for generals, but the fact that HE WROTE THE BOOK on HOW THIS WAS NOT going to be a winning position, yet deluded himself for personal self aggrandizement is.
Or perhaps it is not. Perhaps we HAVE grown just a little as a country. Perhaps when we see this happen right in front of our eyes we no longer like it and thus the feeling of betrayal.
Jim Webb, keep making them look at themselves, up close. Make it personal. Make it so they see every wart, every pimple on the faces of those 19 year old kids, my kids, your kids, that they send over there to be sacrificed at this alter of oil and sand they have built.
Oil and sand.
No longer blood and tears. Our children are nothing more than OIL and SAND to these creatures born to comfort. Raised to rule. Hungry for more, more, more. Our children are scorched and scared and buried in oil and sand.
But the union is sound? I hear a sound? The sound of outrage! The sound of thousands crying out from beyond the grave.
OIL AND SAND. IS THAT WHAT I WAS? OIL AND SAND?
