Refuting the smears

It's absolutely amazing how many people got that email that lied about Sen. Obama's past, accusing him of being some sort of a Muslim sleeper agent and other nonsense.

Sandnsea just had a thread with a resource for people to use to refute these lies. (The Muslim email is bad on so many layers. Among other things, it wants to divide Democrats by making them condemn people on religious grounds as well as smear Sen. Obama by making him look like a 'fake' American.)

I was wondering if people here have been collecting these smears and posting the rebuttals to them. It's very, very helpful to have a thread on DU that is dedicated to getting the research information all in one place. It is massively useful when posting on other parts of DU and on other web sites. It also allows people to question one another and verify the research. This becomes 'vetted' information that has been, in a sense, reviewed already and is sound and can stand up to questioning by others.

This is, btw, nasty stuff. Not everyone can wade into the sewers. These lies are awful and they can be painful to read. Ahm, there is also a need for people to have a place where they can talk about this stuff and share how they feel about it. This helps keep people going, plan and simple, when the going gets rough.

There's one in the debunking forum too, althouh some of this seems too stupid to debunk at all. There's also the factcheck at barackobama.com.
