would a petition asking Obama not to pick HRC as VP be a good idea?
the thought of her on the ticket makes my blood run cold. It turns me off so much, I don't think I could actually vote for that ticket. She would be undermining him 24/7 and running her little backroom deals--business as usual--with the likes of Uribe and with corporate lobbyists and other greed-heads. It would totally negate his message of "change" and just prolong the status quo and the "dynasty problem" for another few election cycles.

Is there any reason why someone couldn't start a petition stating that we are vehemently opposed to her as VP, pointing out the reasons it would be a bad idea as well as the fact that there are so many more better choices, pleading with him not to?

1. I'm working on one now
Should be up later this afternoon or tonight after housework is done. I'll post the main part, for suggestions:

No Hillary for VP

Obama Campaign, Hillary Clinton as a running mate is a bad idea.

Reasons:

1) Personal baggage. It's late October, and all of a sudden we find out about Clinton girlfriends or other scandals that occurred after he left office. Obama spends the rest of the campaign trying to put the fire out instead of defending his own record and ethics.

2) People hate her, they really, really hate her. All those crossover Republicans and independents who support you now will vote McCain or stay home if she gets on the ticket.

3) What about those sweetheart deals Bill's been making? What did he promise in return? What are the details?

4) Her Ideas are from the past, race baiting now, gender baiting in the fall. How can she even say lthe word unity after what she has said about how Obama is sexist and cannot win over white working class voters?

5) will people trust that she's telling the truth about her support for Obama after having trashed him so badly in the spring, or will they say it shows Obama will do anything to win, or that he's too weak to say no?

6) Incompetent campaign and campaigner. No strategic mind at all.

7) Doesn't bring any states or groups Obama couldn't do better on his own with.

In short, please Obama Presidential Campaign, find someone else to be on the ticket, and close the door to the Clinton past.-scandalous or otherwise.

3. Your wife's opposition is trumped by Obama's wife
I believe it was in Novak's column today where it is said that Obama's wife is strongly opposed to Clinton being VP. That has far more bearing than the views of our wives or any petition! (I'd get a link to the article but I was just checking things on line quick before going out to dinner. I'll dig it up later if nobody else does.)

8. Good suggestion
I was worried about spamming so I only posted it in a couple of places so far. While I've heard denials from various vague sources, understandably nothing official can be said until the actual VP process is finished. So the petition can be a way of giving notice.

9. I think we need to make our feelings known
My wife wanted me to send a message via the Obama site, but I doubt if anyone reads those. A petition with a significant number of signatures would be more likely to be noticed.

Not that I know what "significant number" means in this case.
