Iraq war justification hits lowest point in US

LAHORE: Few adults in the United States believe the rationale for the coalition effort was correct, according to a poll by the New York Times and CBS News. Sixty-one percent of respondents think the US should have stayed out of Iraq, up 10 points since April, says a report published in Angus Reid Global Monitor.

The coalition effort against Saddam Hussein’s regime was launched in March 2003. At least 3,452 American soldiers have died during the military operation, and more than 25,500 troops have been wounded in action.

In the poll, 35 percent of Americans said the US did the right thing by taking military action against Iraq, while 61 percent said the US should have stayed out of Iraq.

the 9/11 attacks? Someone on TV said that 50% of Americans still believe that (down from 70% in 2003). The height of irresponsible polling not to continue hammering that question.
