Close to a dozen members of both houses of Congress were in Israel this week.
Among the delegations were a Senate team including Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.) and Sen. Chick Hagel (R-Neb.); a Florida team including Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (D-Fla.) and Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.), who joined for a time a trade delegation led by Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (R.); Sen. Joe Liberman (I-Conn.), traveling on his own; a four-person delegation led by Rep. David Price (D-N.C.), who chairs the U.S. House of Representatives Democracy Assistance Commission, which advocates for assistance to democratic governments; and Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) on a two-week tour of Europe and the Middle East focusing on Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe issues and culminating in the OSCE conference on anti-Semitism next week in Romania.

1. I wonder how many members of Congress made it to New Orleans this past week
to assess the 'recovery efforts'?

3. I rather doubt they were only there to walk
The Stations of the Cross. They were there being instructed about what our foreign policy will be.

9. Or perhaps carrying a message from the Decider to the Israelis...
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 07:43 AM by LeftishBrit
as to what THEIR foreign policy ought to be?

Just after telling the Brits that Decider Bush will regard it as a 'personal insult' if Gordon Brown withdraws troops from Iraq?

Israel doesn't rule the entire world!

Bush may not either, but he certainly tries to!

11. It's a Three Stooges thang - you wouldn't understand.
Are you trying to insinuate you're more American than I am? You DON'T want to go there.

Edited on Fri Jun-01-07 09:11 PM by Tom Joad
but maybe less. Though not all in the last few weeks.
compared to how many who have gone to any part of Africa?

Or have visited New Orleans since Katrina? Or have seen the ghettos in Washington DC?

Policy is being decided.
Most likely, it includes a massive bombing campaign
in your very near future.
