Kids in NYC have no baseball fields or equipment...
front page of today's New York Times. NYC is the home of the two richest major league teams. It has the world's richest mayor. We are spending gazillions on an illegal war and we can't build parks and buy gloves for kids to play ball....be nice to see some sports for girls, too. What is wrong with this picture?

1. Actually I was just reading of a campaign to ban metal bats.
Unfortunately the article (from SI.com) seemed to have been a great victory of "well we just KNOW they're more dangerous" and "the evil corps are backing this for profit" vs. actual scientific evidence proving wood bats are safer. My girlfriend even quipped, maybe they should check the little leaguers for steroids. Also, there's a big potential (and likely actual) difference between aluminum bats and these carbon nanofiber bats now being advertised (an ad was cited as proof that ALL metal bats must be dangerous because the ads say they're better than wood).

Just mentioning it since it's re: little league and bats. But sure. There are consequences to war. They may not always be evident at first. They always become more evident as time goes on.

2. I was told that the old Yankee Stadium will be converted to ballfields for kids
When the new stadium is completed, the old one is supposed to be converted. I have a brother in law who works there and this is what he he heard. I hope it's true.

4. The operative word here is "richest", which equates to Pottervilles U.S.A.
